Clue. It's something that could not possibly happen before the last day of the Nagoya basho in any year.

Huh. What's that special about the Nagoya basho? And in what capacity and which basho is Terunofuji relevant - rank?

Ah, 60 wins.

That's the winner! Recording a 60th win in a calendar year.

Yes, that's my "nerd shelf". Some nice stuff there.

My nerd shelf says "White Wolf" a lot, but the best volumes say "Black Dog".

Gotta say this basho didn't excite me much until the last few days. I was really looking forward to the Hakuho-Terunofuji battle but these things do happen. Myogiryu of all people kept it interesting but only so much.

My last remaining cat is Kuro, a tuxedo cat. Momo and Mr. Nelson both died this year.

I dislike cats . They are too Chiyoshouma. I'm allergic to most of them, but that's not the reason. They scare me.

These two sentences sum up the basho for me perfectly. The first couple days were interesting but it looked pretty early on that Terunofuji was going to waltz away with the yusho. It got a bit interesting again at the end but I never had much doubt about the end results.

But Hakuho vs Terunofuji Part II was the real pre-basho story to me and it’s too bad we didn’t get to see it. I had doubts Hakuho would make 15 days let alone that they’d both be 14-0 again, but up until his withdrawal was announced the dream still existed.

Second sentence confirmed; my cat did a hell of a henka last time I tried to take him to the vet.

Sorry about the late query, but ...

Just wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not the China-Japan Friendship Cloisonné Cup was presented at the 2021 Autumn Tournament?  I didn't spot it, and I am starting to think that it was withheld either due to Covid or to strained relations with the PRC.

It was among those who were also presented, but without presentation on the dohyo, together with the NHK gold cup, that went to that category from the start of Corona restricted awards
