Times up. 10 players is a decent number and should be fun. Others could still join but their points would be taken in account only from round 2 so, unless someone feels really confident to start with a handicap...
Please, we would appreciate " Walilewaleliwalela" to tell us who he/she is as it's more fun to know who we are facing. :-)

I'll post here the standings after each round so that the forum members who'd be curious to see how the things are going can have an update. I might add a small comment.

After round 1, there is not much to tell yet as it's much too early. The 5  first players got decent scores. The second half have already a bigger gap to fill to catch the lead. If you're not happy with your squads, do not hesitate to use your wild cards "asap" now that we've seen all the teams play at least one time. For example, I saw that some of you have players who finally do not participate at the euro. These need to be change at once. Do  not forget that transfers will close right before the start of the first game of round 2.  You have 2 free transfers per round in the group stage. Use them wisely! Good luck to all.

Round 2 is in the books and .... Pitinosato with the best score of this round takes the lead! Some players did better, some worse. I'll let you discover the tables here below. It's still very early to call anything, scores are really close. Let's see how it goes.

Standings after round 2 :

image.png.d94667bab5972ca5c2fe641f2a8687a6.png

*Note that Walilewaleliwalela ("Wali" from now on...) has probably made 3 transfers between round 1 and 2. Each transfer above the first 2, which are free, costs 4 points in the group stage. This explains the total.

Evolution between round 1 and 2:
Most improved Djodjoyoshi (+3). Biggest fall Asapedroryu (-3).

Group phase is finished and the best player now has a confortable lead, even after the poor display on MD2.

Proof that visiting hostess bars is good for athletes. Asanoyama should use this evidence to appeal his ban.

Knock out phase next, but in a normal arrogant Portuguese way, I tell you to start preparing to send the cup this way. (Feelingguilty...)(Beinghypocrite...)

Round 3 is history. Asapedroryu did a very smart play and at a strategic moment this round using his limitless wildcard and picking players who performed very well. As a result he did a great score which not only is the best for round 3 but also the best so far in the competition. Congrats to him ! Wali did also perform very well this round with the second best score of the round which granted him a big jump in the standings.

Sorry about the display but it seems I'm not allowed to upload any more tab

Round of 16 is over so let's have a look at what happened. Asapedroryu keeps the lead but the pursuers get closer. Athenayama remains in the second place 9 points behind the leader.
Best score of this round is Jejima with 60 points which makes him a valuable contender for the final win. Pitinosato also achieved a pretty ggod score which helped him gain a rank. Achiyama had unfortunately the second lowest score of the round which explains why he lost one rank.  Lord Shamrock and Djodjoyoshi had also pretty good scores having as a result to go up a rank. They remain too far from the lead though.
I believe till rank #6 all players could still win provided they have great performances from now on. Clearly Asapedroryu, Athenayama and Jejima have the biggest probability to win this fantasy game even though we could have some surprises on the way. 3 rounds left, next one is the quarter finals, prepare your roster wisely !

Standings after the round of 16 :

      Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 R16 TOTAL

  4 Pitinosato 53 50 32 50 185
  5 Achiyama 48 49 55 32 180
  6 Walilewaleliwalela 33 28 73 44 174
  7 Djodjoyoshi 24 38 42 52 156
  8 Lord Shamrock500 38 23 32 56 149
  9 Chishafuwaku 32 26 54 30 142
  10 Fc Loosers 37 30 26 41 134

* (Achiyama and Wali -4 points for transfer cost)

Evolution between round 3 and round of 16 :

Horrible match day.

First, need to blame the referees. Then, hope all players from Portugal, France, Holland and Germany lose their nationality and are sent to some island in the middle of the ocean for the rest of their lives (French players can get some references from napoleon...).

Next phase will be interesting. I've lost 11 players and Athenayama is about the same. Jejima might be the one in the better position.

Let's see...

I won't comment the players part, it's been a crazy Euro and we all suffered more or less either from French, Portuguese, Holland and/or German footballers who didn't perform as expected.
As regarding the fantasy game, the small difference is that I still have my 2 wild cards to play and that could make things interesting. ;-)
Whatever the final result, something tells me it will be a close call. Anyway, good luck ! :-)

Edit : And some other "dangerous" players still have their 2 wild cards such as Pitinosato and Achiyama. Everything can still happen !

Funny and sad at the same time. I'm sure you have it mind but I believe it would be a good time to use your wild card before the quarter finals. You can still make it to the top 5.

I used the wrong wild card previously....  So, I need to guard the one that I have left.

Yes, good timing could be precious. It will be a close "fight" anyway !

The quarter finals just ended so it's time to see where we stand. Several changes occured.
Best score of the round for Athenayama who also takes the lead.
Asapedroryu drops to second place. 3rd and 4th don't move but while Jejima lost some ground Pitinosato, on the other hand, gained some.
Wali switched rank with Achiyama and both follow at some distance from the podium but not that far.
Chishafuwaku obviously used his remaining wild card wisely and achieved the second best score of the round. As a result he moved up 2 ranks. Fc Loosers had almost the same fate this round (3rd best score, +2 ranks).
Djodjoyoshi and Lord Shamrock are fighting to avoid last place. Big penalty for Lord Shamrock as he made many transfers this round.

Only the semi finals and the final remaining so 2 rounds with more and more limited options. Scores are still close though, nothing is decided yet. Each one has a goal to reach at his own level. Good luck to all!

Well, well, well, after the semi-finals the scores were pretty mediocre not to say low. This is normal as scores in the real matches were also low. Now about our fantasy game, could we have a more undecided game than this?!
Asapedroryu achieved the best score of the day and is now only 1 point behind Athenayama! Needless to say that anything can happen.
Pitinosato gets even closer to Jejima for the 3rd place battle. Both have still a very small chance for the final victory if Athenayama and Aspaedroryu "collapse" even if it looks really difficult..
Wali, Achiyama and Chishafuwaku would need a tremendous performance in the final round to have a chance for 3rd place.
My buddies and cousin will just fight to try to avoid the last 3 ranks.
See you on Sunday for the final results and good luck to all.

Seems we have a new best player. The previous best player made the brilliant decision to leave a 3 point player on the bench and thus losing the game....

So here we are with the final outcome of this UEFA Euro fantasy. To say it was a close decision is an understatement.  The final contenders made some sort of remake of the 2004 Portugal-Greece final. No need to keep the suspense any more as Asapedroryu has already mentioned it in his post here above.
- Athenayama is the winner with only a 2 points gap over Asapedroryu.
- Jejima resisted  the ultimate assault from Pitinosato and kept his 3rd place.
- Wali, Achiyama and Chishafuwaku are following at some distance while my family and friends couldn't resist the strong tachiai from the sekitori of sumo forum and occupy the last 3 ranks.

To those who played this game for the first time I hope you enjoyed it and appointment is taken for the World Cup in 2022 !

Best score in a round : Athenayama 3 times, Asapedroryu 2 times, Jejima and Pitinosato 1 time.
Best score overall : Asapedroryu 97 points (impressive!).

Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 R16 quarter finals semi finals Final   TOTAL

I hope to see some of you again in September for the UEFA Champions League fantasy which is also fun. I know some of you are not interested in that format but maybe others will join me and also others who were just following the results here might be interested to participate in our next event.
I'll create a thread when the game will be active with the according links.  "Sumo Fans Champions League" doesn't that sound just great? See you then. :-)

Thanks to all for your participation !
