It's entirely possible we could see Endo-Takakeisho fighting for the yusho. Which means Takakeisho has to win three times in quick succession. That seems even more unlikely given his stamina. WAKATAKE 2,637 Posted May 22, 2021 So I’m going to put my sansho predictions here: Shukun-sho for Endo Kanto-sho for Takayasu if he wins Gino-sho for Wakatakakage if he wins Gino-sho for Endo if he gets the yusho

Katooshu 3,138 Posted May 22, 2021 (edited) Very excited for day 15! My ideal scenario is Terunofuji winning in a playoff ........would love to see the big man reach the top rank he once seemed destined for, and a playoff would put the world's most powerful bowling ball on a run too Edited May 22, 2021 by Katooshu

Eikokurai 3,433 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) One thing I hadn't consciously recognized until just now is that Takakeisho could end up not even getting a jun-yusho if he loses to Terunofuji and Endo wins. Endo would finish on 12-3, one behind Teru on 13-2, while Taka would be on 11-4. That would, I strongly suspect, rule out any sort of conditional tsuna run for him in July. Even an 11-4 JY may not be enough, so for Taka forcing a playoff is a minimum I reckon. Edited May 23, 2021 by Eikokurai

Takakeisho can only win a three-way playoff by beating Terunofuji during it at some point. Sure he can lose such a playoff without ever facing Terunofuji, but that's not very relevant.
Katooshu 3,138 Posted May 23, 2021 Takakeisho does have limited stamina, on the other hand Terunofuji is 0-3 in makuuchi playoffs, and 1-4 counting lower divisions.

Kintamayama 44,480 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) Sansho-: Gino-sho: Wakatakakage (2nd straight), Endou (4th) Shukun-sho- Endou, if he gets the yusho (!!) Kanto-sho: Wakatakakage was a candidate but fell short of the majority needed, so none will be awarded. Edited May 23, 2021 by Kintamayama 1

Katooshu 3,138 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) 2 sansho for Waka would've been a bit much.... And in juryo, Kotoshoho ends 7-8 after a 4-0 start. His 3rd straight MK after having been on a 12 basho KK streak. Edited May 23, 2021 by Katooshu

Ichimawashi 573 Posted May 23, 2021 On one of the Mbovo replacement streams they are sure that Endo should not have been awarded the win yesterday. Hard to see why. As I understand it, there are three ways to win a bout if you touch down first: 1) a foul (there wasn't one), 2) opponent is in an irrecoverable position when you touch down or step out (if Endo was unrecoverable, then how did Terunofuji lose?), 3) there is some allowance for deliberately touching down first to soften the blow on your opponent (Terunofuji touched down with his right arm, the arm farthest away from Endo: this is a non-argument). The mono-ii lasted a bit of time because they wanted to be sure that Endo had not touched first with the hair or turned over his foot before Terunofuji touched down. Neither happened, and Teru was clearly down first, so it was not a difficult call to make once the facts were clear enough.
Eikokurai 3,433 Posted May 23, 2021 Can I suggest PMing people with names or links of live-streams just so we don’t draw attention to them? They’re not hard to find, but let’s not make it easier for the NHK lawyers. :)
since_94 650 Posted May 23, 2021 Sorry, but that looked like a huge dive by Yutakayama to let Shohozan get his KK on day 15. Not just the finish either. He totally refused to move forward and press the initiative, despite Shohozan having nothing really going on in terms of an attack. He Yutakayama even took a voluntary step backwards at one point, seemingly unaccountably.
Eikokurai 3,433 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) First big bout of the day coming up. If Bushosan wins and later Chiyonoo loses, we get a tomoesen in Juryo. If Ura and Chiyonoo both win, it’s a two-man playoff. If either Ura or Chiyonoo better the other, that rikishi wins. And Ura wins with ease. It’s on Chiyonoo now to keep himself alive. I get that on my channel- it used to annoy me, but life goes on, apparently. Shut the chat down for your own well-being.
