Akinomaki 32,185 Posted February 26, 2021 Soon to disappear Minezaki-beya's makuuchi gyoji Kimura Ginjiro wrote his first book, about sumo related trains and stations「大相撲と鉄道」"Ozumo and railway". Mineko Nomachi had intended to write it, with Ginjiro providing the information, in the end he wrote it himself. A group of 6 gyoji are in charge of transportation, getting also the tickets for the trains to regional basho and jungyo. Some oyakata and rikishi want to have special seats, e.g. not feeling too much of the Shinkansen pressure when entering a tunnel (Minezaki-oyakata), in view of Mt. Fuji, not having the setting sun in view, special numbers ... Then there is the problem how to place the extra big rikishi. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202102250001252.html 2nd half to follow At Dai-Gyoji station oo o 10
Akinomaki 32,185 Posted February 27, 2021 2nd half of the talk about Ginjiro's book on sumo and railway. There was the famous night train ゆうづる Yuuzuru, from Aomori to Tokyo: over 50 years ago Futagoyama-oyakata (Waka I) scouted 2 boys and they traveled together on it - the later yokozuna Wakanohana II and Takanosato. The so called sumo train to transport the lower ranked rikishi etc. to the regional basho is well known - but we had none of that for a long time now Ginjiro: "For a whole year I as well haven't been at Tokyo station. In July I want to go to Nagoya. Passing a tunnel with a train, there is always an exit. Regardless how long and dark it is, going forward the light will become visible. And then it's just escaping it. We mustn't stop. We are still in the tunnel, we have to put our efforts into quickly escaping it." http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202102260001141.html o o

Ginjiro likely gets his wish for Nagoya, but without the sumo train. o Arranging the tickets for that is the job of his transport department. "The tickets for which we did a tentative reservation will be canceled. The NSK members will move according to schedules of each heya." Akinomaki 32,185 Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) The 3 yobidashi of Isegahama-beya with the help of locals rebuilt a dohyo for the kids of a primary school in Yanagawa, Hadano-city. The heya has close connections to the local Izumo taisha separated shrine. http://www.kanaloco.jp/news/social/article-466410.html - there are really plenty of outside activities of NSK members after the basho Edited April 12, 2021 by Akinomaki 2
