Remember last July when Kotoshoho was the hot new prodigy? That same basho was a complete disaster for Onosho. Now Kotoshoho looks like he’s falling down to Juryo and Onosho is up near the top ranks of Sumo.

robnplunder 978 Posted March 16, 2021 It is becoming more and more like the end of Hak and Kak era. The injuries at their age heal slow and the time does not stop. I think they should go intai at this point.
Eikokurai 3,437 Posted March 16, 2021 They should reach an agreement to retire at the same time, coming out of Kyujo for a final day 15 showdown before driving over a cliff together. 2

Eikokurai 3,437 Posted March 16, 2021 That was a lovely uwatehineri by Ishiura. I thought it might be a zubuneri actually as he sort of pivoted Hidenoumi across his shoulders.
Akinomaki 41,854 Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) Inosuke had real problems to announce the torikumi for day 4 - and Tochinonada for Tochinoshin. Doing the kaobure 2 days in a row is too much for him. Edited March 16, 2021 by Akinomaki
Eikokurai 3,437 Posted March 16, 2021 Kotoeko blew that one. Terutsuyoshi was in retreat the whole time but somehow stayed inside and on his feet. Great reversal.

Kaninoyama 1,882 Posted March 16, 2021 I thought the top of Chiyonokuni's foot was flipped over and touching dirt well before Midorifuji went out, but no monoii.

That was an ugly loss and win. It's only day 3 but I feel that the following are a done deal. Terunofuji will clinch his return to Ozeki rank after this basho. Takakeisho will get out of kadoban
robnplunder 978 Posted March 16, 2021 Hoshoryu lost today but he is making a believer out of me. When he finally gains some weight in the right places, he will be a shoo-in for an Ozeki spot and more.

If it weren't for the dream of the Games, I'd Hakusho would have gone into after his last tournament win.

Yorikiri is what they call pretty much any forward-moving, front-facing win that isn't an oshidashi. Tsukiotoshi is for backwards stuff. Anyway, I expected Shodai-Takarafuji to end with yorikiri and they didn't disappoint. We have an average of two a day now.
