Guess Hokutofuji's Aite January 2021

Is this the last day we see such clear consensus? Although Day 9 might have a fairly obvious choice as well.

So, that was unexpected....

Do I get half marks for getting off the train?  My decoder ring apparently missed the non-sanyaku bouts, but I feel pleased to have tried..

It's always worth a try on Day 8 where things are always weird. But why Daieisho- Kagayaki when they could have done Daieisho-Onosho? Also, Akiseyama has been given Meisei much earlier than usual for lower Makuuchi yusho contenders.

Yeah, I had mitakeumi-shodai, but daieisho-onosho and our hero-takarafuji, which seems more reasonable to me.  Old Japanese Men continue to baffle.

So the masterminds get their win huh? You think they are saving Mita and Hok for act 3?

Day 9 - *has* to be Mitakeumi, unless they're severely screwing with us.

That was absolutely bonkers.  At least it shouldn't really matter now what order they do the rest of the sanyaku matches.

9. Mitakeumi

Maybe, like many of us, the torikumi committee is tired of this nonsense.
