Seiyashi 4,068 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) Probably a bit early for this, but meh. Poster for Hatsu 2021 released. Takakeisho front and centre on both this and the NSK website's landing page. Special mention to Aoiyama's right moob, which has taken on a life of its own. Edited January 10, 2021 by Seiyashi 4 1

Looking forward to the yusho interview on that one - "I'd like to thank my moobs, my right moob especially, which was crucial in some of my victories..." 2
Akinomaki 39,585 Posted November 26, 2020 6 hours ago, Kintamayama said: Number of spectators allowed for January will be 5300.Tamariseki will be filled by every fourth person and some tickets will be sold to the public (dont hold your breath, Mr. Public..} Tickets will also be sold at the Kkan itself, based on availability. Tickets will also after a year again be sold at convenience stores and ticket agencies, the applications for the 1st pre-advance sales lottery start on the 28th, results announced on the 30th.The tamariseki on sale will likely all be gone with that. No minors allowed in the tamariseki this basho, and as usual no people who can't move quickly enough (a warning is given that rikishi may come falling down): disabled persons are not allowed in. If someone gets injured there, the kokugikan infirmary will provide some first aid, but no compensation whatsoever will be given. The secondary lottery is from the 2nd till the 4th, results later on the 4th, and the next morning the proper advance sales start. http://sumo.pia.jp/ticket01.jsp But Shibatayama also mentioned the possibility that the basho will be canceled like in May. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202011260000741.html 2

pricklypomegranate 730 Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) Source: https://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202011300000404.html I'm sure many fans are wanting to hear how Shodai's condition is coming along after that ankle injury sustained against Takayasu and Daieisho. He filed a kyujo notice for three weeks due to an injury to the left distal tibiofibular ligament. In a telephone interview with Nikkan Sports newspaper, here is what the Ozeki had to say: "I think I will be recovered by banzuke day, in time [for Hatsu]. i hope I can win. Today, I taped my left ankle and was doing shiko and suriashi. I was so intent on winning I was injured. If there was a win to be had, I didn't want to go kyujo, if possible. It felt a little uncomfortable watching the matches on TV, but I had a rare opportunity to carefully observe the other rikishi, so it was a good experience for me. I don't feel frustrated by [Takakeisho's win]. In fact, it is very stimulating as I will have to do my best. Actually, I don't feel any pain when I walk, or when I do shiko. It only hurts when I twist my body without changing the position of my legs. If i can't participate in the upcoming degeiko session, it would be rather quiet. It was an amazing thing for me to be Ozeki, so now I hope I can put my whole heart into the dohyo and face my opponents without hesitation." We really hope so, Shodai. For day 15, else only the masu seat boxes are gone, all chair seat classes are still on the list. All other days still also have masu seats, masu A are gone only for the weekends. Masu S are all gone, I guess a good deal of them were not for sale in the first place and went to the iji-in like for Aki, as did most of the tamariseki. Still less than half of the full tamariseki capacity will be in use this basho, the first rows remain empty - still free space for flying rikishi.
Hakuryuho 334 Posted December 12, 2020 Apparently Takanosho has torn his right ACL and was told by his doctor that he needs surgery but apparently he doesn't want to go under the knife and will continue training.. https://this.kiji.is/710413356479348736?c=39546741839462401 1 1
Taikoubana 143 Posted December 12, 2020 We've lost another one to the "I must gambarize" demons... It's astounding how any rikishi who tears their ACL looks at rikishi with the same injury of the past who had forgone surgery, and thinks "Y'know, it really went well for those guys, this must be the right decision." 2 1

Amamaniac 2,078 Posted January 5, 2021 Don't count on Hakuho participating in this tournament. With five days to go before shonichi, it was announced that he tested positive for Covid. https://www.chunichi.co.jp/article/180732
