Swami 244 Posted November 25, 2020 Although on the evidence of 2020 results you could never rule it out, I'd be very surprised if gets promoted. Asanoyama, if he gets his act together, is the better long-term bet.  Swami
just_some_guy 190 Posted November 25, 2020 I'm voting "next basho" A) because I think it's a very real probability and B) in an attempt to jinx it.
Pitinosato 81 Posted November 25, 2020 for me it depends to a big part whether Hakuho will take part or not (the whole Basho) Pitinosato
sahaven111 159 Posted November 26, 2020 those are all good points... maybe you might be interested in the new Takakeisho fan club in "Featured Rikishi & Heya"
Reonito 682 Posted November 26, 2020 The percentage of responses for "next basho", 21.05%, almost exactly matches the rate at which Ozeki have converted a yusho in one basho into Yokozuna promotion after the very next basho in the six-basho era (14 of 66 times, 21.21%).
sahaven111 159 Posted January 2, 2021 its not bad to post here because its not outdated until takakeisho has retired or a yokozuna has been promoted.

Katsunorifuji 65 Posted January 5, 2021 I could see a yusho this month followed by promotion. But I just as easily see a 10-5 basho. So I voted soon but not yet. He’s good and given the fact that there isn’t much other consistent competition at the top I think he’ll put together back to back yusho at some point soon.
Churaumi 683 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) He could still be the next yokozuna...no earlier than July now. Ball's in your dohyo, Shodai! Edited January 19, 2021 by Churaumi English is hard, yo
sahaven111 159 Posted January 20, 2021 that's true, but whats important to know is that asanoyama is a lost cause

Kaminariyuki 484 Posted June 9, 2021 I think if Terunofuji gets the yusho in the next basho, they will have to promote him, and I suspect that he will win that third in a row. But, as we all know, predicting the future is rough and entertaining.

Swami No question. I suspect he'll get back to sanyaku after the penalty, of course, but they might hold this against him for long while as far as getting the rope is concerned. As far as prognostication goes, I think you know I was only playfully giving you a hard time. Nobody saw that one coming. It would have been easier to predict Tokushoryu's yusho. Churaumi 683 Posted June 13, 2021 This time has really allowed doubts to grow. I'm not certain he'll ever get it. But, he's still young, and if he can learn how to deal with matches where his initial push after the tachiai doesn't work, he could do it.
