New fan from western NY
Getting into sumo, was watching on and off, but this last Basho had me wildly hooked.
My friends think im nuts so I joined up here to learn and talk more about it.

Watching this makes me a) want to actually do amateur sumo and b) learn more about its history!

Dunno how i am gonna make it 42 days till the next basho!

Welcome!

That's a question I always ask myself, but I think it's better to have to wait and it still being special than to have it all the time and it not being special anymore :)

Hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome to the forum.

One of the things I enjoy about following sumo is how it gets your attention for two weeks but then you can put it aside for six weeks and get on with other things. Other sports like football require your weekly attention, sometimes more. It can get kind of exhausting. Sumo is served at a leisurely pace.

But for the two weeks six times a year where it it genuinely all-consuming and everything else suffers (Laughing...).

Welcome, DominiKaze! Having a place to talk sumo with like-minded people is awesome, you'll enjoy the forum I'm sure.

Go to the Off-Topic thread.  Select "Have a go at a Haiku!".  Pour out your anguish and despair in 5-7-5 blank verse.  Repeat until the next banzuke is published.

@DominiKazeWelcome. Go to Kintamayama's YouTube channel, click on Videos and keep scrolling down for ages. You can watch makuuchi bouts going back to about 2011. That's what I did...
