Kaisho's loss today is making Ura's chance of returning to sekitorihood that much closer. To be safe, Ura needs to win one more.

Eikokurai 2,115 Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) Oki ... this debut is enough to break a man. Imagine if ends 0-15, falls so far he never makes it back to Juryo and his one and only appearance as a sekitori is winless. Tomokaze fell to Ms11 after 0-0-15 at the same rank. WAKATAKE 1,768 Posted September 25, 2020 For all we know they'll pair him with somebody from the lower division on the final day to maybe give him a chance of winning.
Kotogouryuu 101 Posted September 25, 2020 Hokuseiho with his 7th win in Jonidan. There's no one left at 6-0 so that's two yusho in two tournaments for him. He'll surely soon rise to a level where his size isn't enough to counter the skill level of his opponents but he has certainly made an impressive debut. Seiyashi 466 Posted September 25, 2020 Man, Enho really has lousy forward moving sense. He got baited into a bullrush by Meisei, and then - hilarity ensues: he wound up holding Meisei's sagari in front of the masu seats. And the bout was going so well by his standards up to then too... Seiyashi 466 Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) 10 minutes ago, Ichimawashi said: Is three Jonokuchi yusho a record? Especially three that are 11 years apart? It matches the existing record held by Ikeru Kenta, but his was only over 2 years. For the curious, the record for jonidan yusho is 2 (multiple), sandanme is 3 (Karatsuumi and Wakanojo), makushita is 3 (Amanoyama, Daikiko, Dewanoshima, Nakao, Shinko, Wakanoyama), juryo is 5 (Masurao) and makuuchi is.... I forget. And for the curiouser, the most yusho across all non-makuuchi divisions that anyone has managed to win is 6 - 8 rikishi share that honour, including Chiyonokuni. Shimanoumi and Tochinoshin are the sekitori with the most lower division yusho, at 5 (tying with Jokoryu). Of course, 4 of Tochinoshin's were back to back returning from makushita, and Shimanoumi also had 2 back to back juryo yusho.
