Ridiculous Predictions for Nagoya 2020

Recommended Posts

I know, the whole thing is ridiculous, but let's try.

*Remember, only ridiculous predictions, please.

1) After months of warnings, two Sandanme wrestlers refuse to get closer than 6 feet, thinking it's a trick.

2) Yobidashi are given metal dustpans to clean up the ring rust after each of the first day's bouts.

3) Several Jonokuchi rikishi accidentally wear their masks into the ring. Suddenly, NHK ratings triple in Mexico.

4) Kaisei barely makes it to the makuuchi dohyo-iri in time because, well, wink-wink nudge-nudge.

Nishikigi arrives for every bout with a fresh lump on his forehead due to a chronic habit of walking into the new transparent dividers in the changerooms.

Hattorizakura, to the shock of all including the lovable loser himself, finally manages a decent tachiai, and knocks someone out of the ring on power alone.  Unfortunately, it turns out to be the gyoji, who points the other way while picking himself up off the shimpan, when HZ's aite lifts him out from behind.  Okuritsuridashi!

Guessing that any sumo happens in Nagoya this basho is a pretty ridiculous prediction.

Kakuryu, channeling Tokitenku's spirit, wins 14 straight all with leg techs, getting the yusho that was almost to be decided by a 6-way playoffs with the Koto* guys at the bottom of banzuke.

Some makushita kid will put rotten tofu by mistake on sadogatake's chanko and we will see a massive kotokiujo by diarrhea in this "Nagoya"

After the fifth straight day beginning Makuuchi with five consecutive Koto matches, following the yokozuna dohyo-iri, the hyoushi-gi are put away and instead they bring out an actual koto.

The yusho will be decided when one of the main contenders' entire heya gets knocked out of the basho by positive COVID-19 tests.

Terunofuji meets Hakuho in a ketteisen playoff, and Terunofuji wins the championship when Hakuho's shimekomi falls off mid bout. #makujiro yusho 2.0

Well, Hakuho's already practiced sprinting up the tunnel, so he'll know what to do after the Full Monty.
