If all three of his boys win the first round, his heya is guaranteed the yusho.

robnplunder 975 Posted August 2, 2020 Kotonowaka should have stayed kyujo to protect his injury.

Well Meisei (J1 10-5 Y), Tobizaru (J2 9-6), Kyokutaisei (J5 10-5) should be in front of him, maybe even Ichinojo at J5 with 9-6? But I could very well see him at 4th in line. Worst case for him would be 5th. Edited August 2, 2020 by Hakuryuho
Benihana 1,913 Posted August 2, 2020 Damn tomoesen, totally forgot it could happen today. Woke up, turned on the TV still a bit dazed and confused. Saw Meisei vs. Hoshoryu, torikumi said we already had Ichinojo vs. Shohozan. What kind of parallel universe is this???
Kaninoyama 1,712 Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) I'm calling it now. Onosho rides his winning momentum to the yusho next basho. Edited August 2, 2020 by Kaninoyama
Shinobi Steve 146 Posted August 2, 2020 With a 2-13 from M2, how far will Onosho drop now?
Seiyashi 4,072 Posted August 2, 2020 6 minutes ago, Shinobi Steve said: With a 2-13 from M2, how far will Onosho drop now? M15-16 or so, maybe. Takayasu went 0-15 (with a kyujo) at M1 and still stayed in Makuuchi, so Onosho shouldn't be demoted.
Seiyashi 4,072 Posted August 2, 2020 Enho should have stuck with the red mawashi this basho, he put up a lot more fight against Yutakayama than for the rest of his bouts. Going by his style, it feels like he was encouraged to try and fight others head on to develop strategies against them, especially since his rank was high enough that he could afford to MK. He parried a lot of Yutakayama's tsuppari quite well, and only lost when he ran out of dohyo to dodge. I only hope he's learnt a lot more from this basho about how to counter oshi-zumo by opponents a head higher. It was painful watching him get run through multiple times. Akinomaki 40,053 Posted August 2, 2020 They are definitely late - and they can be, because NHK has withdrawn from the yusho ceremony: neither cup nor interview. They only have to have the bouts finish by 18h.
