Sumo games summary

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is already a topic somewhere but I didn’t see any recent posts.

I’ve only been active here since February but the sumo games were really fun in the lead up to and during the Haru basho. The one area of difficulty was navigating which games were active, how to join, deadlines, and which required daily activity vs. which you set up once and were done.

Rather than sort through each game thread in the forum individually I thought it might be nice to have a central area where each game could be advertised with the highlights of what it requires to participate.

Perhaps we can use this thread to post information about each game and how to join in for those of us who are interested but newer to the forum. Or if this type of resource already exists please point me towards it and let this thread slowly slide away from everyone’s attention.

Thanks all for the links, they are super helpful. The SB links in particular are essentially what I was hoping existed. It doesn’t look like they cover all the games here, but I see a few in there that I was hoping to give a try in May.

If anyone wants to advertise any of the games not covered in SB or wants to expand on any of the ones listed in the pinned post (the post just has entry dates and is light on details) I’d love to hear more.

I think I gathered, here below, the sumo games you can find in this section of the forum. I hope game administrators won't mind if I'm intruding, if they do I'll accept any punishment.
In my opinion, all these games are interesting and worth playing, so up to you! With these links you should have access to the rules. I apologize for this post to be too messy, I tried as I could. I hope I didn't forget anyone!

By alphabetical order, here we go.

Note : Few days before the start of the basho, each game administrator posts a thread with an invitation to play his/her game. So, beginning of May keep your eyes open. If we have a basho in May that is.

Thanks Athenayama! This is super helpful too! I hope the May basho isn’t canceled as there are a lot of games I am looking forward to now.

The pinned post is actually rich on details - the deceivingly inconspicuous little icons are links to the various parts of the games (rules, banzuke, entry page, standings...).

There is no better access point, IMO.

I was ready to make a similar reply when I noticed that there are no icons for the rules in the very precious "Sumo Games Deadlines" pinned post for the games of this forum. And this is probably due to the fact that, for most of them, the rules are reminded in the invitations to play before each basho starts.
Hence my tedious post here above, trying to help our friend Katsunorifuji.  :-)

As I don't believe my post deserves a new thread, I'll just write it here.
Considering how the situation evolved for May basho (waiting till last moment before cancellation), I'm 100% sure that we'll have sumo in July. In Tokyo or wherever, most probably without crowd.
So everyone, prepare for July ! I'm 200% motivated to have great results. Until then, all be safe and take care.
