Foreigners are doing really well - and it seems that this time about a 3rd of the competitors are from outside of Japan (with the usual team sizes of not more than 10 for most countries, it can only be about 10%). The next Mongolian generation still looks very promising, but they likely will go through (at least) high school first, before they aim to join ozumo. Let's see how far the Mongolian team goes in the finals. Maybe so, but we do include the Hakuho Cup in our amateur sumo banzuke, so there's that. More from the show today - inspired by Brazil o ooo o oo oo vid o The usual scene for dad - Mahato (5th year, 150cm, 38kg) made it to the 3rd round this time - as 3rd year he had his only win so far, the 3 other years he lost in the first round. o his 1st 2nd round win o 3rd round loss ooo The Brazilian team: 4 of the 5 lost in the 1st round, Artur Montagnini アルトゥール・モンタグニーニ (10) in the 3rd, he dreams of going to ozumo one day o oo Honda Gotaro (same first name as Goeido, 3rd year, Kawakami dojo) made it to the best 8 of the middle school tournament - he lost to the yusho winner. He also failed as taisho with the team to win for the dojo the 4th yusho in a row. o impressions oo winners o The middle school Mongolian champion - first non-Japanese to win this category at the Hakuho cup: Arutangereru Sosorufu (Tottori Johoku middle school 3rd year, 175cm= +14cm, 93kg= +40kg compared to his 1st year). He wants to go to ozumo after high school graduation - goal: 185cm, 130kg and yokozuna.
