Eikokurai 3,429 Posted January 14, 2020 Wouldn’t Tomokaze merit an honourable mention as well? Two makekoshi, only one of which was genuine (the second and his soon-to-be third are because of his injury).

Two makekoshi, only one of which was genuine (the second and his soon-to-be third are because of his injury). It's arguable, I suppose. His situation is certainly regrettable. I hesitated to even mention Enho with 3 makekochi. The fact that Enho's current rank is higher than Kizakiumi's, and Kizakiumi's is greater than Kotoshoho's makes a neat progression. The bar (perfection) is set pretty high in this club! So I recall reading there is a trick to inserting tables into posts -- one of the reasons I haven't worked on that. Can anyone fill me in on that?

Katooshu 2,957 Posted March 19, 2020 (edited) Kitanowaka is my favourite of the young guns--very impressive as an amateur and making a nice steady rise in the pros so far. He has the right body and all the content is there for the higher levels. I think only serious injury will stop him from becoming a sekitori in the next year or 2. Yoshii has a solid shot of making makushita at just 16...I am pulling for the youngster. I have to admit that Daikisho has gone completely under my radar. Ack! 399 Posted March 20, 2020 So far, we have 5 KKs, 4 MKs and 5 at 3-3. Anyone want to predict the final tally? There are 3 new additions to replace the 4 MKs to date. Ack! 399 Posted March 22, 2020 So the 5 rikishi who finished yesterday at 3-3 went 2-3 on day 14, with the final result of an even split of 7 KKs and 7 MKs. The matches remaining for day 15 won't decide any winners or losers in our list. Among new additions, Nihonyanagi suffers his first career loss being pulled into the Sd yusho "semifinal" against Sd64e Nankairiki, while Dewanoryu takes the Jd yusho against Jd57e Ryubu. Ack! 399 Posted July 24, 2020 (edited) Here is your update on never-makekochi rikishi. Tokisakae is off to a blazing start at 3-0 in sharp contrast to his 1-3 start in March, while the other Makushitans in our list are struggling, save Suzuki. With a 4-3 record in March, Suzuki is not meeting substantially tougher competition this go-round. Not yet 17, Yoshii is the youngest rikishi in Makushita by 2 1/2 years! In Sandanme, Dewanoryu, Nihonyanagi and Mudoho are having a successful debut so far. At this rate, Dewanoryu could debut in Makushita next tournament, which would only be his fourth. To date, he has only one loss in his young career. Ms17w Tokisakae: 3-0 (6 KK, 36-9 career) Ms20w Kitanowaka: 1-2 (6 KK, 34-11) Ms40e Daikisho: 0-3 (7 KK, 34-18) Ms49e Suzuki: 2-1 (7 KK, 35-17) Ms54w Yoshii: 1-2 (6 KK, 31-14) Sd49e Dewanoryu: 3-0 (2 KK, 16-1) Sd54w Nihonyanagi: 2-1 (2 KK, 15-2) Sd58w Araoyama: 1-2 (5 KK, 24-14) Sd66w Mishima: 1-2 (5 KK, 23-15) Sd84w Mudoho: 3-0 (2 KK, 15-2) Honorable mention: M15e Kotoshoho: 5-1; only one career MK Edited July 24, 2020 by Ack! 3
Ack! 399 Posted July 26, 2020 Here is your update on never-makekoshi rikishi after day 8. While Dewanoryu and Mudoho wasted no time in claiming their KK, the rest of the Sandanme contingent is in trouble. In Makushita, Daikisho firmly hit the wall at 0-4. Tokisakae also took a loss. On the other side, fans of Suzuki should be relieved since he is now 3-1 after an opening loss. Similarly, both Kitanowaka and Yoshii evened their records at 2-2 after posting losses in their second and third bouts. Ms17w Tokisakae: 3-1 (6 KK, 36-10 career) Ms20w Kitanowaka: 2-2 (6 KK, 35-11) Ms40e Daikisho: 0-4 (7 KK, 34-19) Ms49e Suzuki: 3-1 (7 KK, 36-17) Ms54w Yoshii: 2-2 (6 KK, 32-14) Sd49e Dewanoryu: 4-0 (3 KK, 17-1) Sd54w Nihonyanagi: 2-1-1 (2 KK, 15-2-1) Sd58w Araoyama: 1-3 (5 KK, 24-15) Sd66w Mishima: 1-3 (5 KK, 23-16) Sd84w Mudoho: 4-0 (3 KK, 16-2) Honorable mention: M15e Kotoshoho: 6-2; only one career MK, current streak 8 KK, 90-40 career 2
