Has this ever happened before, a rikishi vs. his ex-tsukebito for a yusho playoff? Edited March 20, 2020 by Kaminariyuki

Is this more Kintamayama humor going over my head? Again? I don't see a Nankairiki in the NSK database and it doesn't look like Ura is wrestling tomorrow. Has he actually already claimed the yusho? Doesn't look like anyone else is undefeated in Sandamne.

No joke. Nankairiki's Haru 2020 Basho results You won't see the matchup just yet because it's a playoff, and they get added later.

The playoffs are not on the torikumi. And Nankairiki has been around since 2003 and has changed heyas 4 times.. *Except here and there.. Katooshu 1,141 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) Since Ura's already got the zensho and a playoff win is irrelevant to his next ranking, I am pulling for Nankairiki to win the playoff. After nearly 20 years in the sport a yusho would be nice! Edited March 21, 2020 by Katooshu

And “kai” can mean times. I wondered what sort of gag lay in “riki”

I wondered what sort of gag lay in “riki” Riki is the same kanji as chikara or strength. Kai is the same kanji as sea (umi). There have been quite a few riki rikishi (you can look it up in Rikipedia) in the past, notably Takatouriki and Isshinriki. Nankai means south sea. Also "how many times?", but different kanji. Kintamayama 33,120 Posted July 21, 2020 Ura wins again today, beating young hope Kitanowaka by last-minute kubihineri. "I lost that one..I won, but I don't feel I won it with power.. I haven't been able to train lately and am taking care of my body most of the time. As I rise in the banzuke, the opponents are getting stronger and stronger and it's getting difficult, but I'm aiming for a kachikoshi" he said later.
