Rikishi Status Aki 2019 - Day 8 Late

Recommended Posts

I wonder if a few days rest might be enough for Myiogiryu and he comes back? he only needs 3 for a KK.

I don't know anything about Myogiryu, but Kakuryu is kyujo from Day 8 according to Kyodo, giving Tamawashi his second fusensho of the basho.

This is incorrect, he has joined the basho having been absent from the start, fighting Furanshisu on Day 8.

Thank you

And Seiro out again on very short notice. The NSK won't be amused by these shenanigans.

Yoshikaze appeared at the intai press conference with only one proper setta sandal, showing the reason for retirement: a right knee with enough damage for 3 kyujo

with undecided time needed for treatment and recovery

FWIW, Wakaryusei was also a late entry, his only previous result was a fusenpai in his first scheduled match.

Arawashi :-(

Kijuin is suffering with cellulitis and a 40°C fever, while Amatsu is also out due to fever (which is something of a relief, I was worried it was his knee again).

From the earlier withdrawals, Tokiryu and Wakasatake have both retired.

Ichinojou went to the Kokugikan infirmary after his bout today- possible dislocated right shoulder. "I heard a snapping sound. it's dislocated. Never happened to me before.." he said later, as he was leaving the infirmary with a cast on his arm. "It doesn't hurt more than it did right after the bout," he added. He then left for more checkups at a hospital. If he goes kyujo with a 1-3 at M2, it's going to be a big drop..

Press reporting Ichinojo as kyujo from Day 5 due to his shoulder injury.

Just for completeness, this was eventually reported as a dislocated shoulder indeed and given the usual two-week rest diagnosis for the official works.
