Day 8 results and day 9 pairings

Recommended Posts

The sanyaku picture was more accustomed today with the Yokozuna and all Ozeki but Musoyama winning. The leader Kyokushuzan won again and is kachi-koshi now at 8-0. Tochinonada fell further back with a loss to Dejima who is alone in second place with 7-1 as Takanotsuru lost to the surprisingly strong Jumonji. Several Maegashira fell out of the two loss group with losses, making the Sanyaku Asashoryu, Kaio and Wakanosato still looking like the rikishi with the best yusho chances.

Kaido is leading Juryo alone with 7-1 as Harunoyama lost to Tokitenku. The chase group had Hagiwara, Kotoshogiku and Hakurozan winning and Ama and Gojoro losing. Juzan is the first make-koshi Sekitori with another loss.

Two Great man and two great fights.

Kaio made a wonderful turnaround in his bout, when I think all thought he had lost already to Asasekiryu. And he won putting his opponent face down.

O1e    Kaio (6-2)        shitatedashinage M4e    Asasekiryu (2-6)

Also another strong win for Asa who's returning to the fight for basho win! He just took Shimotori between his arms and lifted outside the dohyo.

Y1e    Asashoryu (6-2)     yorikiri       M1e    Shimotori (3-5)

(Bouncing of excitement...)
