Jejima 1,209 Posted April 25, 2019 Hi all! I have decided that following the discussion after the previous basho that we should have a semi-permanent victim to be the subject of the 'Guess Kisenosato's Aite game'. Once chosen, that rikishi will remain the subject of the game until any of the following happens... 1. the rikishi retires 2. the rikishi gets promoted to Ozeki 3. the rikishi will be (or is likely to be) kyujo at the start of a basho 3. the rikishi drops out of Makunouchi 4. the rikishi spends more than two consecutive basho ranked below the joi-jin (roughly M5 and below) 5. there is a surge of opinion among players that we should change the rikishi 6. any other reason that may arise, that I can't think of at present
Jejima 1,209 Posted April 25, 2019 Okay, so who is going to be the new 'Kisenosato'? To make it a little more fun, we are going to make it a knock-out selection. This will be done using the five rikishi previously mentioned in the thread from the competition last basho, with three more that I have chosen to add to the mix, based on the chart that Jakusotsu made (regarding age and number of times the rikishi has faced a Yokozuna), and because I might like them. So the eight 'finalists' to choose from to be the new 'Kisenosato' are.... Aoiyama Endo Hokutofuji Ichinojo Kaisei Myogiryu Shodai Tochiozan I will now put the names into a random name generator to make the 'quarter-final' matches.... Please vote on each match-up for your winner (so 4 in total) to go through to the semi-finals (which I will make with a random selection, once the results of the quarter-finals are known). Remember that you are not voting on your favourite in each pairing, nor who you think would win in a real-life match-up, rather who you think would make the best candidate to be the permanent 'Kisenosato' for the game. Ideally a rikishi who is likely to spend most of his time in either the sanyaku of joi-jin ranks. Here we go... Match 1: Hokutofuji vs Tochiozan Match 2: Endo vs Myogiryu Match 3: Aoiyama vs Kaisei Match 4: Ichinojo vs Shodai Only players currently on the Guess Kisenosate's Aite banzuke are allowed to vote. I won't vote unless required to, to break a 'tie'. Deadline for the first round of voting is 48 hours from now (or until the result is a forgone conclusion - i.e. 7 votes.) @Jakusotsu @Sakura @Gurowake @kuroimori @Tenshinhan @Ryoshishokunin @chishafuwaku @Umizoi @orandashoho @WAKATAKE @shimodahito @TillerTheChiller @Jaakunakunshu

Jejima 1,209 Posted April 26, 2019 Great, we have four more! Mitakeumi, Tochinoshin, Tamawashi and Chiyotairyu will be added to the mix after the end of *this* round of votes, for another 'quarter-finals' with the current four winners! Sadly, I think we have to disregard Andonishiki's votes, as he is currently off the banzuke - unless he publicly renounces his intai, and promises to comes back to play in May

Jejima 1,209 Posted April 26, 2019 Yes, with Andonishiki back in the fold, we have at least 7 votes in each bracket, so I can declare winners.... 1. Hokutofuji (defeated Tochiozan) 2. Endo (defeated Myogiryu) 3. Kaisei (defeated Aoiyama) 4. Ichinojo (defeated Shodai) Okay, lets bring in the four new recruits, who got lucky byes to the second round of quarterfinals, and the eight remaining rikishi are.... Chiyotairyu Endo Hokutofuji Ichinojo Kaisei Mitakeumi Tamawashi Tochinoshin
Jejima 1,209 Posted April 26, 2019 Okay, I put all eight names into the random generator, and it has spat out these match-ups... 1. Endo vs Kaisei 2. Tamawashi vs Mitakeumi 3.
