A new face: Naruto-oyakata today came with the promoters to the city hall of Kurashiki to announce a jungyo there on Oct. 23rd - the 4th, the last was 3 years ago. http://www.sanyonews.jp/article/887101/

On the 26th, Tanigawa-oyakata sealed the contract with the promoter Shizuoka shimbun for the 5th Hamamatsu shusse basho, on Oct. 16th - the last was 2 years ago.

Look carefully at the first picture.  How often, I wonder, does Naruto (6'8") feel like he's sitting in a child's seat?

On Oct 18th for the 6th year in a row a Kyoto jungyo - about 7000 spectators are expected. Evacuees of the 3/11 quake, disabled persons and their families, foreign exchange students etc. for a total of about 1300 persons get invited for free.

After 20 years again a jungyo in Otawara, Tochigi (twins territory) - on Oct 9th. 3 local low ranked rikishi from Otawara and Nasushiobara will also take part. The venue has room for about 3500 spectators.

Sendagawa on the 29th was at the city hall for PR

After 18 years a jungyo will be again in Izu city, Shizuoka, on Oct. 13th - jungyo man Edagawa (Aogiyama) was at the city hall on the 18th - 18 years ago he took part as active rikishi

On Oct. 10th, after last year again a Chiba basho, the 10th (10th 10th 10th) - last year had about 4000 spectators. Edagawa: "We want it to continue every year" - he was at the city hall on the 3rd. If the heya were in Chiba prefecture, the rikishi could do PR at Tokyo Disney as the Seven Non-Dwarfs (Mickey...).

The Aki Jungyo will consist of 21 dates, 3 less than last year, it was announced today. It will commence on October 5th and end on the 27th.
