Apayasu 16 Posted March 25, 2019 I thought that once a kadoban finishes with make-koshi, he loses the ózeki rank and that's all. Now i read on tachiai.org that : "The big news, of course, is that we lose one Ozeki (at least temporarily) and gain another. Tochinoshin (7-8) will be ranked Sekiwake at Natsu, with a one-time shot to regain his rank with 10 victories." Is it so? Is it official, or a custom, that finishing with a "yokozuna kachi-koshi", you get back to ózeki?
Fukurou 534 Posted March 25, 2019 (edited) Official. If he gets 10 wins he gets an automatic promotion back to ozeki. It's a one time thing, though. If he does not get at least 10 wins in May then he is promoted/demoted where his record puts him. Edited March 25, 2019 by Fukurou
Eikokurai 3,287 Posted March 25, 2019 If you want to use a diacritic, it’s ōzeki, not ózeki. :)
