Bumpkin 438 Posted January 26, 2019 There are now 7 kyujo/ intai Makuuchi rikishi and 4 Juryo. There will be a Juryo/ Makuuchi exchange bout on Day 15. Maybe Aminishiki will be brought up to Makuuchi one last time.

Otokonoyama 2,735 Posted January 26, 2019 The 33-year-old Hakuho was diagnosed with injuries to his right knee and left foot, requiring about a week of recovery. "(His right knee) is swollen and it can't be helped. His ankle also seems (to have a problem)," Hakuho's stablemaster Miyagino said. According to Miyagino, Hakuho injured his right knee on Day 4 when he beat No. 2 maegashira Hokutofuji, and hurt his left ankle the following day against No. 2 Nishikigi. "He contacted me (Friday night) saying he couldn't sleep because of the pain. It will ruin his career if he keeps pushing himself," Miyagino said. "It's regrettable, but there's nothing he can do. More than anything, I think he wanted to win the Heisei era's last tournament in Tokyo." https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20190126/p2g/00m/0sp/048000c

Well, not the worst but he won't be doing any training for a while. He can show up in March if he rests but he won't be in good condition to do much. Looks like Jokoryu will spend a few basho in makushita.

Pretty sure I saw him in the Kokugikan yesterday wearing the blue working uniform typical of ex-rikishi employed there, but he still had his topknot, which struck me as unusual. Fans were getting photos with him.
