Well, he's not a sekitori any more, is he?  It's routine to not list as withdrawn high-profile retirements.  I'm pretty sure that was the case with Wakanosato who wanted to go on jungyo one last time before retiring.

According to tachiai, Terunofuji is likely to be kyujo at the upcoming tournament.  Hope he finally gets mended.  I had him pegged for big things (i.e., bigger than Ozeki) back in 2015!

Does anyone know what is still ailing Terunofuji to go kyujo?

Besides the crocked Terunofuji, five more from Isegahama-beya are on the kyujo list (notably former Maegashira Homarefuji). Cold and flu season strikes again?

Perhaps that's also the reason for the absence of Jonokuchi gyoji Kimura Narimasa, missing from the Day 1 schedule.

I hope Ikeru isn't in for another lengthy slide down the banzuke. (Shakinghead...) Hokutoryu could be out for a while though, he suffered a bad knee injury last basho.

Sad to see Daiseiho absent for a 4th consecutive basho. It occurred to me recently that every rikishi born in the Showa era is now at least 30 years old, Daiseiho being the youngest of them.

Banzuke-gai Terasawa is set to return to action in maezumo from Day 3. Wakaoyama won't be back at all, his retirement was reported when the banzuke came out.

Misread that as Takakeisho and mind-boggled for a moment!

The day 4 makuuchi torikumi is late.  Are they recalculating it due to one or two missing high rankers?
It is up now with no major missers.

I was about to post the same thing.  A half hour is quite a while.  I hate when it's even 15 minutes late.  At least it's an hour "earlier" this time of year.
