Akōgyokuseki 227 Posted January 20, 2019 (edited) Ura needs to make his (new?)style of sumo click....and fast, it's already looking ultra competitive in makushita as it is..he can't afford any more losses to play with. Kairyu looked liked the more aggressive of the two, allowing Ura no space to work with. Japan Sumo channel Hoshoryu also took a loss... although I think he simply overextended pushing Ichiyamamoto and slipped. A silly mistake, let's hope he can rebound from this unfortunate loss. Yeah he is a joy to watch. I don't usually go for Aoiyama but I wanted him to win today to keep it interesting. But the instant they went to the belt I knew he was cactus. Hak is just so far ahead of most other rikishi the enjoyment is in watching how he out thinks and out manoeuvres them (and his astonishing footwork). Amazing sumo sense. Really amazing sumo sense of Hakuho. The throw was so quick and so well timed. Aoiyama was about to execute a throw, he was thrown down. Just like a legendary Chinese martial art master once said: "if my opponent does not attack I do not attack. Yeah, I wasn’t being completely serious. Just watched the highlights back and noticed that too. I think the first bout after the Emperor arrived was a matta actually. It is a remarkable story, and this is a remarkable couple. I'm not Japanese, and I've never been to Japan.
