In 2018, half of the yushos were won by rikishi ranked below Ozeki. That is unusual. Will 2019 also be a weird year, or will it be more 'normal', with Yokozunas and Ozekis dominating?

Which ranks do you think will win the Makunouchi yushos in 2019?

Please write your predictions in the comments below.

Please also mention which rikishi (give names!) you think will actually win the yushos (and how many).

And then someone else will sneak one out. No idea who. I'll guess Onosho I suppose.

Hakuho 1, Kakuryu 2, 2 by ozeki, and one sanyaku. Maybe a second win by Takakeisho or Mitakeumi. That’s all I’m willing to say.

Our predictions for where the yushos come from this year appear to be far more spread out than usual!

The median (and mode) for Yokozuna yushos is three - so just half of the one's available this year.

The median (and mode) for Ozeki yushos is two - so one third of the yusho's for this year.

The median (and mode) for yushos from Sekiwake or a lower rank is one - so that's nice.  Certainly no consensus as to which lucky low-ranked rikishi will take it!
