Asashosakari 19,500 Posted September 26, 2018 (edited) Well, that's ~30 years of precedent overturned. Did they take the crossover bouts on the final weekend into account for a change? (Daiseido losing to Azumaryu, Tomokaze beating Gagamaru.) Actually, make that 43 years - the last time I can find where they favoured a 5-2 over a 4-3 from five spots down was after Haru 1975. No, I don't think so. That didn't have a major impact on his promotion. It's rather the "exchange-bouts" on day 14 as Asashokari supposed. Nevertheless it's very strange that they leave their principles they had for decades. Especially when you look at the situation after Natsu 2018 where they favored a 4-3 from Ms4 over a 5-2 from Ms6 and a 6-1 from Ms7!
Akinomaki 40,666 Posted September 26, 2018 The banzuke making shimpan giving a first hint of the next design fashion we can expect for the whole banzuke? Or were they all nervous and confused because Takanahona was not there for work?
