Akinomaki 41,856 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) Interesting that at the kokutai, the prefecture teams can have more than 1 foreigner at the start: both Choijil and Dalai are at the kokutai in the Kanagawa team - as far as I can see the only team with 2: 1st round The limit is less than half, so 2 can be there with 5 bouts, 1 with 3 team bout tournaments This page is being updated to list the full results, but much later: https://zutto-sports.com/kokutai2018-sumo-wrestling The usual site for results: http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/discipline_240_20180930.html Edited September 30, 2018 by Akinomaki 2
Akinomaki 41,856 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) Kanagawa finished 3 times 5-0 in the preliminaries - the pairings for the juniors individuals are out: http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181001_24035020050.html Choijil o Sanspo wrote like only Choijil will start in the individuals, but Dalai-kun does as well. Akinomaki 41,856 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Choijil beat Saito in the juniors team final, but Saitama won it 3-2 against Kanagawa http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181001_24035010120.html Tottori finished 3rd, 4-1 against Toyama, Touma won, the loser this time was their Mongolian member 2nd year Dawaaninji (?) http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181001_24035010110.html I'm disappointed by Kokutai TV, no live, no video so far - we have to rely on our usual channels: Tekkan live qf-final individual Saito won the final against Saitama teammate Kamiyama http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181001_24035020120.html Nakamura (Niigata) 3rd, Hanada Hidetora 4th http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181001_24035020110.html Choijil lost to Hanada in the final 3rd round, Dalai lost in the 2nd round, Dawaaninji lost to Saito in the qf team most videos have no titles yet, but there are plenty fresh from the kokutai: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_DMAQpEr9Gel-gIDHiB_Q/videos day 2 results http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/discipline_240_20181001.html Edited October 1, 2018 by Akinomaki 1
Katooshu 3,485 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Saito!! He has really impressed me since I first saw him last year. It's not just the results, but the total package of size and ability; his sumo is strong, well-rounded, and nicely polished. I will be very excited if he turns pro next year! I hope taking both major titles (and perhaps earning tsukedashi status in December) encourages him to go that route.... Akinomaki 41,856 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Saito vs Kamiyama in the individuals final o o Saito's loss to Choijil in the team final o Is this the smallest number of students ever in the adult individuals? 7 of 32 http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/detail_20181002_24011020050.html Edited October 2, 2018 by Akinomaki 2
Akinomaki 41,856 Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) 7 students of 32 in the final tournament of the adult individuals, then 3 of 16, 2 of the 8 who get a sd TD qualification - but those 2 finished 1st and 3rd: Toyo-dai's Shiroyama (ms 15TD q.) and Nishino. Niigata won the team 2-1 against Mie (unimportant win by Shiroyama), Ishikawa with Nishino 3rd against Ehime. http://kirokukensaku.net/5NS18/discipline_240_20181002.html It is odd that the juniors have 5 team bouts, the adults only 3 - and that teams can have foreign students start for a prefecture, but the Japanese students start for their home prefecture, not for that of their school. Katooshu 3,485 Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Shiroyama has made the individual final all 3 years at university and in his final year at high school (3 wins and 1 runner-up), so 4 years straight counting adult and junior competition. Seems to be his event.... Individual final (rematch of last year's): Miyashita vs Shiroyama 3rd place match: Sato vs Nishino Semifinals: Sato vs Miyashita & Shiroyama vs Nishino Quarterfinals: Kurokawa vs Sato, Tanaka vs Miyashita, Shiroyama vs Nakade, Miwa vs Nishino Edited October 2, 2018 by Katooshu 1
