Itachi 329 Posted September 4, 2018 This is the thread for the Pick The Yusho Winners (PTYW) game for Aki 2018. Please note the change in email address at the end of this post. I can still receive your messages at my shaw address but I'm transitioning to the gmail one.Until further notice, the game will run just as it has the last several times. I will compile the results and post them as best as I can on this thread. Last basho, I had technical difficulties that prevented me from posting tables of results on the forum. I have begun the process of setting up a website for posting results if the problems with posting to this forum continue. I have no experience with creating and maintaining a website so I'm not sure how that will go but I am determined to find a way to share the results of your entries with you. If all else fails, I suppose I could just send the spreadsheet to each of you by email but I'd rather post it for all to see. This is a pre-basho game where each player selects a rikishi from each of 8 sections of the banzuke. The player earns points for each win, each kachikoshi, and each yusho earned by their team of 8 rikishi. The sections of the banzuke are these:Sanyaku (Y through K)MaegashiraJuryoUpper Makushita (Ms1-15 ) (not including any tsukedashi of any rank)Lower Makushita (Ms16-60 plus tsukedashi if any - including Ms 10 or 15)Sandanme (plus tsukedashi if any)JonidanJonokuchiThat's it! Simple to understand, difficult to master. The hallmarks of any engaging game. Please send your 8 selections to me before the beginning of action on Shonichi.Itachi: matsuorussellj@gmail.com or by pm here at the forumAs a reminder, I am only a temporary caretaker of this game until Oshirokita can address the reconstruction of his system. All banzuke, website, and records updates will be on hold until then but the game itself and results postings will continue here on this thread.Good luck with your picks.
Itachi 329 Posted September 8, 2018 This is to bump the topic. There is still time to enter! Also, it seems I have more space for attachments so I should be able to post results properly again! If not, I have begun to construct a website but it will be much easier to just post results here.
kuroimori 1,633 Posted September 8, 2018 Just scrambling my squad, thanks for keeping this game up and running!
Itachi 329 Posted September 10, 2018 Thanks for your entries! There are just 11 players this time, including the 2 drones (°o°), but the game lives on. I've finished entering all your picks into the spreadsheet. I may attempt to post the Day 1 standings later but it will be more interesting after every rikishi has had their bout following Day 2. Itachi 329 Posted September 14, 2018 One player chose a kyujo rikishi and received Mukashi's pick as replacement. I hope I can avoid running out of attachment space by overwriting these tables. Good luck on Day 6!
Itachi 329 Posted September 16, 2018 The tables have been updated with the standings and detailed results for Day 8.
Itachi 329 Posted September 23, 2018 With just one day left, Flohru is tied with the drone Genzai for the lead! Flohru has one lower division match left with Sokokurai to gain a win over the team of most popular picks. The only other relevant difference is the Juryo selection. Genzai has Hakuyozan while Flohru chose Yago. Good luck on the final day!
Itachi 329 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Edited September 23, 2018 by Itachi Adding summarized standings table
Itachi 329 Posted September 23, 2018 Strange, I couldn't paste the summarized standings into this message so I added it to the detailed one above. Anyway, here (in the post above) are the final results for the Aki 2018 PTYW contest. The drone of most popular choices by the human players has moved ahead of Flohru to claim the yusho. Flohru wins the jun-yusho. Congratulations! Thanks to everyone for playing.
Flohru 167 Posted September 23, 2018 Argh, losing a yusho to the drone feels awkward - well, I guess, congratulations Genzai (yusho Nr. 1?), and thanks as always Itachi!
