Raishu 220 Posted July 31, 2018 I couldn't find any info via the search option, so here we go: Does the NSK regularly check the presence of Rikishi in their heya, who have been absent for a very long time (let's say every 12 months or so)? http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=12062 The last time, this guy could be seen on a honbasho dohyo was back in January 2016. He dropped off the banzuke in September the same year and has not been part of an official match ever since. IIRC from that documentary on Nishikdo Oyakata's healt issues, Shinshunishiki was labeled as a "runaway". In case, he has not returned (it looks like that), we could expect him to be more like a retired Rikishi. Since the Oyakata receives money for every Rikishi who is active, not handing in retirement papers could be perceived as fraud, right? Does anyone know about the mechanisms concerning that subject? 4
