Gurowake 4,088 Posted August 20, 2018 Shohozan will no doubt end up ranked higher, because I always demote sanyaku too far, even taking into account that I demote them too far. M5w seems very plausible.

I went with the harsh solution for where to place Takanoiwa (and by extension Takanosho). And for the "sane" sekiwake option, probable loss of points notwithstanding. Asashosakari 19,500 Posted August 21, 2018 A few more absences than usual among the regular players this time, the missing ones among the top 60 being: #18 Gooner (presumably this time absent for real, after last basho's emailed entry that was discovered late), #26 Shimanoumi, #36 Shokikogi, #39 Momijibasi, #41 Haidouzo (back-to-back absence for him, so zero points), #52 Tiger Tanaka, and #56 McBugger (also back-to-back). 6 new and 2 returned players, if I counted correctly, and assuming "Oshirokit" is just a misspelled Oshirokita entry. The provisional post-Aki ranking - current pre-Aki standings in brackets. The list includes all top 20 both pre and post: 1 Okisuruga 4.342 ( 1 / 5.611) 2 Pandaazuma 4.287 ( 2 / 5.477) 3 Feginowaka 4.246 ( 3 / 5.397) 4 Asashosakari 4.091 ( 6 / 5.217) 5 Gurowake 4.077 ( 5 / 5.235) 6 Chiyonosawa 4.041 (10 / 5.086) 7 Flohru 3.994 ( 8 / 5.131) 8 Chishafuwaku 3.993 ( 4 / 5.248) 9 Andonishiki 3.983 (11 / 5.076) 10 Ganzohnesushi 3.959 ( 7 / 5.205) 11 Konosato 3.946 ( 9 / 5.093) 12 RaeucherLax 3.932 (13 / 5.013) 13 Jakusotsu 3.932 (12 / 5.064) 14 Gonzaburow 3.883 (15 / 4.994) 15 Heriokuno 3.876 (14 / 5.006) 16 Gooner 3.874 (18 / 4.903) 17 Akinomaki 3.873 (17 / 4.923) 18 Taxinohana 3.847 (16 / 4.972) 19 Seki Haruaki 3.811 (22 / 4.867) 20 Kaiowaka 3.809 (28 / 4.826) .. 24 Yubinhaad 3.752 (19 / 4.881) 26 Sukubidubidu 3.720 (20 / 4.871) Chiyonosawa had a below-average result a year ago and is set to move up some, while chishafuwaku and Ganzohnesushi were two of three players tied for the top score and thus are defending a lot of points this time. Okisuruga was the first player behind the leading trio last Aki basho, so his provisional lead is significantly smaller than his incoming lead. Pandaazuma should need just +3 points to take over the top spot, Feginowaka likely +5. Asashosakari et al. would need all three frontrunners to falter badly to have a chance. 1

Kintamayama 45,345 Posted August 22, 2018 Going by the guesses published here, I'll probably end with a -* result. And I still say Mitakeumi will be Sekiwake E. Off a yusho AND on an Ozeki run? Has to be.

Gurowake 4,088 Posted August 26, 2018 I have 50, which I think is going to be a very bad score. Well, comparatively for me. Asashosakari I think has 73, counting backwards. 1 point off each for Kotoyuki, Ishiura, and Onosho. 2 points off for Daishomaru, Aoiyama, Shohozan, and Kagayaki = 11 from 84 = 73. Asashosakari 19,500 Posted August 26, 2018 Yep, looks like 73 for me. One of my best entries ever, 6 rikishi missed by one spot and one rikishi by two spots. Good start to my quest to be GTB #1 on the 100th ranking list next June...
Ganzohnesushi 522 Posted August 26, 2018 Only 50 points, disappointing result. I assume that will be 7-8 or even just 6-9 in the end. Crap! Ganzohnesushi

Could you tell us, who is your contact person at the Banzuke Committee at the NSK? Getting 7 Yushos with such a huge competition nowadays (Gooner, Okisuruga, Pandaazuma, Susanoo, me, …) is tremendous!

Kintamayama 45,345 Posted August 27, 2018 And here are the results of the Aki 2018 GTB. 86 players. 6 new players, 3 of them kachikoshi, Kawabata 10-5. The yusho? Some guy called Asashosakari just won it for the 7th time, tying another guy called Feginowaka for the most yusho ever, with an awesome 73 points, missing only 4 ranks totally and securing his top spot on the rankings. Me? I entered to prove a point (proving the point, BTW..) and ended up with what I think is my best ever record of 12-3, and believe you me, I have no idea what i'm doing, except the Mitakeumi thing.. Milestones: Asashosakari (him again..)- 90 bashos Heriokuno- 90 bashos Seki Haruaki- 70 bashos Veshana-60 bashos Akinomaki-60 bashos Kuroimori-50 bashos Okisuruga-40 bashos Andonishiki-40 bashos Thank you all for playing. to see how you did, go here. Special thanks to Andoreasu who runs the game and Doitsuyama who maintains it. And now, on with the Ba-show!! 2

I actually feel as though I need to apologize to you - without my last-minute switch of Shodai and Chiyotairyu we'd have been tied at 69 and you could well be the one to celebrate the big fish now (no idea how the tie-breaker would have turned out). If anyone had told me that Okisuruga would finish in the top 10 again and still lose the #1 spot, there's absolutely no way I would have bet on anyone other than Pandaazuma or Feginowaka to pass him. (And of course, Feginowaka did pass him.) Very large deviations between the scores on the KK side of the results this time... 6 scores over 60 points and still only 46 needed for KK, I don't think that's happening too often. That aside: Edited August 27, 2018 by Asashosakari
Ganzohnesushi 522 Posted August 27, 2018 Congrats! Amazing performance again. Well, I'm really surprised to find myself ranked #29 with the already above mentioned 50 points finishing 9-6. Much better than expected, nevertheless had to leave the Top 10 again. But ranked #12 and 'defending' only a 7-8 next time I'll try my best to reach the green area again after Kyushu banzuke release.
