Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 6, 2018 It's that time again and the Aki SG rankings are out. Sanyaku: Yokozuna Pandaazuma is relatively safe after losing his kadoban status in last basho's nailbiter. He can't be demoted unless he gets three straight losing records. Kuroimori is at his highest ever rank of top sekiwake and is on an ozeki run. He needs 10 wins! Good luck to the lad. Seb is back at sekiwake for the first time in a year and a half and he also has a stab at ozeki promotion. He will need 11. Maegashira: Most of STI is bunched together in the top half so we're going to see plenty of intra-heya bouts. Stefan makes his Makuuchi debut and he got a nice lift there so has plenty of leeway. Anything over five wins should keep him in the division, but he'll be wanting 8 or more of course. Juryo: Only one representative of STI and that is Seisset. Incidentally, in the future, if anyone fights him, can they put the link to this thread in the comments so he knows where to come. Makushita: Ronnie leapfrogs Jezz. Both are within striking distance of Juryo and a ten-win basho should give them a decent chance of getting out of the doldrums. Rank Wins Points AADs Opp AADs 10 8+ 5- TB TB+ Who? Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 6, 2018 Aki is always my favourite basho. The summer is coming to an end (I bloody hate it) and I always go along to the stadium at least one day. On the gaming front, I have a good lead in the World Championships but it's not over by any means yet as anyone in the top five is capable of a blockbuster 100+ basho, so I will be really putting an effort in this time to go 50+ in the Masters after July's disaster, when I had almost no time to make picks or watch bouts. This basho looks tricky going in with all the uncertainties over injuries so luck will also be required. GAMBARIMASU!
Sebunshu 1 Posted September 6, 2018 On a totally unrelated topic. Did you ever consider that the Panda is truly the worlds only multi-cultural creature? They are black and white and asian! ztnm, Sebunshu

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 8, 2018 @Rocks Let Doitsuyama know whether you want to use Rocks or Gansekiiwa. For Rando's convenience, I urge the latter. ;)

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 8, 2018 By the way if any unaffiliated types would like to join Mukade Beya, feel free to put in a request here. I will put your SG stats up here. Qualifications for entry are: Sense of humour. Kick arse at sumo gaming. Will join our Bench STI heya (we need new blood).

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 9, 2018 Scott got off to a great start with an outstanding 9. In fact, it was the best line-up in all three divisions so it was unlucky for our Owl! Jan and Seb got off to miserable starts on their ozeki runs, but there is still time to salvage things. A mention also for Chisha, who got an 8 today. Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 9, 2018 Scott really doesn't want that Baka Cup so he made sure of a first day win...he actually had a brilliant day all round. Panda had a decent day as well, losing only in Bench (in what will probably be bad luck of the day) against an unbeatable line-up and also Odd Sumo, where a punt on Ikioi came to nothing. The pre-basho games are a bit of a mix but most of my picks look either OK or in good condition so I'm not worried at all. GAMBARIMASU!
Haidouzo 78 Posted September 9, 2018 Indeed, this is likely my best day 1 ever. Loss only in TUG, and even leading in Odd after a lolbet just to bet something. Let's hope the Machine can keep it rolling. And by that I mean rolling the Cup back across the ocean. GANBARIMASU

Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 10, 2018 First of all, many thanks to Unkonoyama for his efforts in bringing our lost brother to us. If you're reading, Seisset - you can join the forum here if you want to comment. In gratitude I have made Unkonoyama an honorary member of Mukade Beya and will put his SG stats up here from now on. He is very welcome also to join STI in Bench Sumo if he wants. Not sure if he plays that game. Panda, Gary and Miyako are the only unbeaten centipedes as of day two, and sadly Gary meets Panda tomorrow. Jan and Seb's nightmares extended to a second day and they'll now both need something special to make ozeki. Well done to Stefan on getting that important first Makuuchi win. Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 10, 2018 Another decent day despite a disaster in Toto. Had another nightmare in Bench, meeting an unbeatable opponent for the second straight day. Two 14s and 0-2 is not pleasant reading. I doubt it will be bad luck of the day, but I will have bad luck of the basho for sure. Not an accolade I am looking for! Elsewhere I won ISP to go 2-0. Can't believe that. 2-0 also in Quad and SG. Not bad in Tipspiel. An annoying loss in TTT makes me 1-1. Through in Chain to day 3. And the highlight of course is a lovely bet in Odd that has taken me to the top of the standings. That could be crucial for the World Championships so I need to play out carefully there. The pre-basho games are a mix. I am doing OK in some, but in the ones where I usually play risky tactics I am getting slaughtered due to the lack of kinboshi and ginboshi. All this said, the lads I've picked all look in good condition so I am fairly optimistic at this stage...barring an injury to a key lad, of course. Aaaaand...I got some nice revenge in the Baka Cup, beating Scott by the same score he did me by yesterday. 1-1. GAMBARIMASU!
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted September 10, 2018 As promised to Scott, I'll post my Oracle projections here. I've included Norizo, Choshu-Yuki, Gurowake, Asashosakari, Ganzo and Scott. I would usually include Owl, but his bets on Kise and Takayasu pulling out don't look likely to come off and so he won't be in the top ten unless that actually happens. Note that projections from day 2 can not be considered all that useful. I've found that it is fairly accurate from day 6 or 7 onwards. Day 2: Pandaazuma (Leader) Choshu-Yuki: -1 Norizo: -4 Haidouzo: -5 Gurowake: -6 Asashosakari: -7 Ganzo: -
Haidouzo 78 Posted September 10, 2018 A fairly strong day 2, but I'd rather have losses elsewhere than SG and Bench. (Also lost in Odd and TUG.) An average-ish day (for the division) in DST, but that's bad enough to take me out of the top 10 for now. 2-0 in ISP, Quad, TTT, and--somehow--Toto. Also still alive in Chaingang. Many thanks for the Oracle projections! GANBARIMASU
