We use that term especially when an almost sealed win is clumsily turned into a loss. Hence we should play for the "Dödel-Cup". In case you have problems writing the ö you may use oe instead. Pandaazuma 1,259 Posted March 8, 2020 (edited) Sweet Jesus I despise the first and last days of a basho. My system just can't cope with them. I always end up losing to H2H pickers, and only very occasionally get lucky and sneak a win. Today was the former, and indeed a horror day all round. I am a bit concerned even at this early stage as quite a few of my main picks looked dicey. Tomorrow will be crucial for them to get their fingers out. Managed wins only in the easy ones that everyone won today: Quad, TTT, Chain. The rest were abysmal nonsense. Juryo Game is the only pre-basho I like the look of, as all my picks looked in decent condition today and it bodes well if luck holds. Otherwise I feel this could be a long basho...not confident about the condition of the lads I have seen. And 0-1 down in the Dödel-Cup is not ideal either. Poor old Ganzo actually lost his bout today despite getting a very decent score. GAMBARIMASU! Edited March 8, 2020 by Pandaazuma

Pandaazuma 1,259 Posted March 9, 2020 Hmmm. Still not got my sumo sense right but I think I will be OK from tomorrow. A lucky win in SG was balanced out by an unlucky loss in Bench. Second straight day in the latter. Managed to sneak a vital win in Toto to get back on track and survived Chain but the other dailies were bobbins. Bad picking by me really. I drew level at least with Ganzo! Many of the pre-basho games are already a write-off as I heavily went for Shin and Takayasu, both of whom I have been led to believe were in decent condition. Nope! But I have some hopes in a few of them. At this stage I don't see myself winning the Green or being anywhere near it, but I'll be aiming for 30+, the best I can probably hope for this time. While watching I thought "Man, this is a loss in Toto for sure" and it was, but only by a half point which somehow made it worse. I thought I had done absolutely terrible. I mean losing is losing but somehow they can seem different day to day.
Pandaazuma 1,259 Posted March 10, 2020 I picked OK today and won Toto and Quad and scored credibly in Tipspiel. Survived Chain as well but who didn't? Sadly I keep walking into monster line-ups in Sumo Game and Bench, where I should be close to bad luck of the basho by now. Not improving my mood. Scored well in SG today only for my opponent to have an unbeatable line-up. Annoying. The pre-basho games improved a little but Meisei and Takayasu are going to screw me hard this basho so any points I can pick up will be precious. Best bets are Juryo Game and Oracle. Norizo might be OK. The other Japanese games and UDH are already write-offs. Slight chances in the rest with some luck. A mixed bag really. And I slaughtered Ganzo today to go 2-1 up in the Dödel-Cup! :) GAMBARIMASU!

Ganzohnesushi 405 Posted March 10, 2020 Bad day for me. Both H2H got lost, SG by simply bad picking and in bench I ran into a 9GBL. Horrible. Even worse, I thought I had saved Toto picks but obviously I did not. The good thing is, with 20-15 I would have earned a Kuroboshi anyway as I usally don't achieve too many points with the risk factor. DST just 1 point today, meanwhile 0-3 in TTT and so on. At least I'm still in Chain where I hopefully can defend my rank #1 again. Surprised to see on top of the standings in Juryo Game but there are still 12 days to go. Ganzohnesushi 405 Posted March 12, 2020 Day 5 went well for me. Slightly below average in DST, but wins in all other dailies. Still co-leader in Juryo game. In the other pre-basho games I'd be happy with a kk as I had expected much more from Takayasu and Tamawashi. And as Panda took a day off in SG I achieved an easy win in the Dödel-Cup to get 2-3. Ganzohnesushi 405 Posted March 13, 2020 Important wins in both H2H games, scored well in Toto and won in ISP today. Went out in Chain with Teru, thus no win in TTT either (Teru's loss ruined 31 Shiroboshi in total) and the rest is also to forget. Still one of approx. 48 co-leaders in Juryo and slowly recovering in the other pre-basho Games. It helps a lot that Yasu is out and substitutes step in. Ah, and completely crushed the Yokozuna in the Dödel-Cup to go 3-3. Ganzohnesushi
