As mentioned, a very low-scoring day. Gary is the luckiest player in the game and is somehow still unbeaten. Jan is going well too in Juryo.

A tricky day with some wild scoring variance. Special sob for Chisha who lost with a stellar 8! Gary and Jan sadly lost, meaning we now have no unbeaten players. Mark, Rupe and Ronnie are yet to get on the board.

I'm in a much better place than I was two days ago. The dailies are going pretty well. Can't believe I won in Toto today - thought I was going to be in the bottom ten. 3-1 there. Annoyed about the Quad loss for 2-2. Two inspired picks in ISP over the last two days have brought me near the top with 2-2. Tipspiel is going well. 3-1 in SG is nice, and I am through in Chain.

Most of the pre-basho games are poor with various injuries and underperformers but I am well up there in FS, UDH, Oracle and perhaps Salarycap if Kak and Goeido keep going to the end. This basho could very easily go either way, so I need to keep grinding out wins in the dailies.

And it's another win in the Baka Cup for 3-1! Huzzah!

Pretty well a clean sweep except for Toto, which puts me 2-2 practically everywhere except TTT, where I have a happy 3-1 and a large tie for 4th.

Too much busy-ness for much more commentary.

Another decent day for the Panda. Won SG and Bench to go 4-1 and 2-3 respectively. Still going OK in Tipspiel for top ten. Won TTT and Quad to remain in the top ten there. Survived in Chain with 14 left. Picked up a cheeky little bet in Odd Sumo to fly up to third. Lost ISP with another 'pick opposite to who I actually think will win' pick. And an absolute sickener in Toto, where I came back from a shocker in Juryo to finish one below the smegging line.

Prebasho remains a mess and Oracle doesn't look good now either. UDH, Salarycap and Fantasy Sumo look to be my only chance for Masters points.

And another win over busy Scott, who lost in SG today because of that missed fusensho. I would have beaten him anyway on a tie. 4-1.

Of course, the day I pass out before fusensho announcements because of a kidney stone is the day someone withdraws.  At least it only cost me a win in SG (which is almost automatic, given how close most SG bouts are).

A so-so Basho for me so far. If we can see Kaisei A more often results in pre-basho games will improve. Toto and ISP both 1-5 is a nightmare, other dailies are average so far. Need a strong 2nd week to grab some SB masters points.

A fine day for the Panda. Only bad points were losses in TTT on a very tough day and an unlucky loss in Odd Sumo. Everything else was very nice. Some of the pre-basho games went well today, with a clean sweep in FS and a decent day in UDH.

6-1 in the Baka Cup. I am concerned for the machine after all the extra work and kidney stones. :(

Only in positive territory in Toto and (probably) TTT, at 4-3 in both.

Just one of those basho, I guess.

Day 8 then. The dailies have gone very well. I'm in the top ten or even top five or leading in almost every daily. Only Bench (very unlucky basho) and ISP are not up to that standard, but even ISP is pretty good at 4-4 as the leader is 6-2.

The pre-basho scene is of course a mess thanks mainly to Kaisei and, to some degree, Ichinojo...although thankfully I didn't pick him in several games, option for Shin instead. I am coming back in Oracle and have decent chances in UDH and Salarycap. I am also second in FS with a strong team. Rotosumo, Norizo and Juryo Game are pure comedy, ravaged by injured lads everywhere. With a little luck I might sneak something in Bingo and/or PO.

And 7-1 in the Baka Cup...and I face Scott tomorrow in SG! And we all know what that means: Congrats, mate!

Panda won again and now leads along with Natsunoyama. Rupert came back impressively from 0-4 to 4-4. Amazing. Miyako and Gary are back at parity. Jan improved to 6-2 in Juryo but there were unlucky losses for Chisha and Ganzo. And Steve continues to light up Makushita. Ronnie had a great seven today as well there.

Some awful luck with opponents. Scott, Seb, Stefan, Jezz and Chisha will be ruing this first week.

Really irritating day in that I have no idea why I picked Daieisho to pick Tamawashi in Toto...my system predicts the opposite. That cost me a crucial win. I did well in Bench and SG...especially SG, where Scott needed three bouts to go his way and two did, leaving me pretty nervous about Goeido letting me down against a very genki Abi. So...8-1 and sole lead there with Baka Cup wrapped up for the tournament. Sadly, I screwed up Quad, TTT and Odd as well, but it should be too disastrous in the long run. I lost in Chain but 10 Masters points is absolutely fine, and I now have 20 points already in the bag going into day 10. A strong finish in the dailies will make me the favourite for the first Green Mawashi of the Reiwa era.

Prebasho keeps ticking over as before. It ain't pretty, but I think I can sneak quite a few points here, most undeserved.

Panda's streak is now 8 wins but he was lucky today against poor old Scott, whose basho hasn't been up to his usual standards (although he had a decent day in the games today, I think). Rupert faces Panda tomorrow on a streak of his own - a brilliant comeback from 0-4 to 5-4. Some nice tens today from Chanko, Gary, Renaud and Unko. The latter won a 10-10 bout! Jan and Ganzo are looking good in Juryo but Sergio's abysmal luck struck again as he lost 9-9. Jezz is in trouble and needs to win out. Steve is cruising at 7-2.

Panda is really scraping through, sneaking another win over fellow streaker Rupert, who is now 5-5. Not bad from a 0-4 start though. Scott's miserable basho took him to MK today. Owl lost to the ozeki in a high-powered tie and needs to win out. Chanko has come back superbly from her uncertain start. Gary is at his usual score. Renaud, Stefan and Mark all have work to do at 4-6. And Seb is up against the Tawara now.

Congrats to Jan on his KK and certain return to Makuuchi. He won a limp tie to do it but a win is a win. Chisha isn't going down without a fight and he scored a brilliant nine today. Ganzo had an off day and was slaughtered but he needs only two more. He will want five.

Steve gets KK today and is doggedly pursuing the unbeaten leader. Ronnie lost and needs to win four. Unko won and looks good for a return to Juryo. And sadly Jezz fell to an early MK.

Yusho chances are limited to Panda in Makuuchi and Jan in Juryo at this stage.
