They got both shoved out without any sights of resistance. Quite fishy... I missed Abi’s bout but Shodai was a flop. Either he’s injured, had no belief he could win or just didn’t care enough to try. Aminishiki and (probably) Takekaze aside, most of the guys near the bottom are either KK already or looking good for it. The final few days will be telling. I'm not sure why Shodai seemed so uninterested but I think that we are seeing the signs of people 'working out' Abi's Frog style, in the same way people worked out Ishiura's Submarine attack. He didn't get a chance to extend his arms against Shohozan, who just kept moving forward and blasted him out. Abi always sticks his arms out at the tachiai, and springs forward with his legs, but if he can't set that up it looks like he can be quickly overwhelmed. He got a bit lucky a couple times early on and his sumo has not been good this basho. He may still KK. As far as Abi is concerned it's probably the fact he was facing a guy who isn't fazed by slaps again and had little to offer. Abi needs to expand his repertoire. Of course he's going to be contrite about it, and who knows if it was "planned" or if it was a spur of the moment thing, but Yokozuna will probably always declare it was not planned, as doing such would be beneath them. ALAKTORN 346 Posted May 23, 2018 What the hell was Shōdai doing? Was he even trying? Tochinoshin is more of a yokozuna than the 2 current ones right now. Barring injury he gets promoted soon enough. Sometimes hard to remember that these are young men. Geek has Ichinojo tomorrow, Kagayaki has Takekaze, Daiamami has yoshikaze...
