Female Rikishi in 1957?

It’s debatable as well just how important this particular tradition is to the Japan Sumo Association. Sixty-one years ago, Takasago stablemaster (former yokozuna Maedayama) had no problem inviting a famous female sumo wrestler into the ring to mark her retirement.

I had no idea about this. Does anyone have any idea who he could be referring to, and how a female Rikishi could become famous in the 1950s?

Apparently, the son of Wakamidori wrote a biography of her, would anyone know the name of it? I'm assuming it's not published in English.
