Kintamayama 42,781 Posted March 11, 2018 Takanoiwa was warned by the Kyokai for not entering the stadium from where he is supposed to, the front entrance. He entered from somewhere else, apparently, and was warned not to do this again tomorrow. 1 3
Jyuunomori 225 Posted March 11, 2018 Unusual behaviour from Takanohana-heya rikishi? You don't say? But really, why would he even do something like that? I cannot even think of any reason except some potential jokes about bottles and heads colliding and causing some lapse in his memory.

He was probably on a leash attached to Takanohana, and came in through the door nearest where he was set loose. As for Taka, as you noted, he wasn't where he was supposed to be either. He probably just wanted to avoid bringing too much attention to himself from journalists.

I agree. Just wanted to get a match under his belt and try to get back to normal before facing the press.
Kintamayama 42,781 Posted March 20, 2018 Down in Makushita, Toyonoshima won his match today and got his makekoshi. that in itself is no big deal. He faced Kotokamatani, Sadogatake oyakata's son. Toyonoshima faced his father twice when he was active as Kotonowaka and beat him both times. So now he has beaten father and son. Doesn't get more unusual than that. 1

On the contrary, I'd say that's a world-first! Incidentally, I'm amazed at the amount of coverage Toyonoshima has been getting while toiling in Makushita. Every bout, win or lose, seems to get an article with quotes. Not that he doesn't deserve the coverage of course, I just don't think I've ever seen it quite like this before. Dapeng 231 Posted March 20, 2018 Takayoshitoshi beating his tsukebito in the dressing room should also be counted as an "unusual happening"

It's rare to have a former sanyaku regular spending this much time in the lower divisions, so the number of comparable cases is probably quite small. 1 hour ago, Kintamayama said: the same goes for Homarefuji (!!!) on Sanspo. Incredible. Years ago, Nikkan used to have tons of coverage of the various Shizuoka rikishi. Turned out that those articles all originated from their regional edition in that prefecture (hard to tell on the website since all the articles are bunched together there) - I presumed they simply had a very sumo-crazy reporter in that regional bureau. Perhaps something similar is going on at Sanspo. Edited March 20, 2018 by Asashosakari
