Akinomaki 34,304 Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) On July 30th, the jungyo will be after 8 years again in Otsu-city, Shiga. Pref. local Edagawa (Aogiyama) had a nice PR visit to the governor of Shiga (NHK local news page with video) and a not so nice one with the mayor of Otsu. She told the plain jungyo man on simple PR duty to have changes in the NSK and then told the press that she'll refuse to make the address speech from below the dohyo (NHK local news page with video). o o Edited April 19, 2018 by Akinomaki

Akinomaki 34,304 Posted June 1, 2018 Shikoroyama-oyakata was for PR at the city hall of Odawara, where after last year again a jungyo will take place in August, on the 24th. As a child he often visited the city and nearby ones. Keiko with kids is canceled by the NSK for safety reasons. The promoters hope for a quick lift of this new ban: also this year 10 kids had applied for this popular event, girls included. Last year had 6000 spectators. o o official supporter of the Odawara-basho http://sumou-odawara.com/ is the local girls band "The Partys", with their sumo song "NOKOTTA"
Kintamayama 40,182 Posted July 20, 2018 No minors will be allowed on the jungyo, it has been announced today. After last year's drinking problems bringing about the Harumafuji affair and the gyoji sexual harassment affair, this decision was made. "We know that minors have no experience dealing with heavy smoking and drinking and what may result afterwards... At the heya they can be supervised, but during the jungyo it's more difficult to monitor them. It's a preventive measure.." said an officer. "We are undermanned with tsukebitos as it is, so now this? And what happens if in the future we will have a teen Ozeki, or even a teen Yokozuna?" asked someone not happy. This is supposedly going to be permanent. 1 2 1 3
