Senkoho 552 Posted January 10, 2018 (edited) Despite my being a terrible game runner and not having published the banzuke, welcome to the 19th edition of SHG -Hatsu 2018. Here we go! As always, RECRUITING NEW PLAYERS for this easy pre-basho game!!! RULES UPDATE: If a rikishi withdraws before the Day 1 torikumi is published (i.e. is NOT listed on the Day 1 torikumi), he will automatically be moved to the bottom spot of all players' entries and his score will not be included in the averages for bonus questions. No need to resend the entry or correct the picks in such cases. If such a rikishi enters the basho later, it does not "activate" him in any way. HATSU 2018 TOPICS: The same 11 teams as in Kyushu 2017 participate in this basho. Isegahama is down to just 4 sekitori after Harumafuji's retirement and Terutsuyoshi's demotion. Tochihiryu helps team Kasugano expand to 4 sekitori. All 5 Kise sekitori are in Juryo for this basho. Kokonoe is down to 5 sekitori, having lost Chiyootori. Oguruma lost Yago and is down to 3 sekitori. Daishoho joins team Oitekaze making them the only 6-sekitori team for this basho. ATTENTION! Due to the survey site's new rules, I could only fit 10 questions in one survey... I split the entry form in two again. I'm sorry about this inconvenience.... Entry form PART 1 of 2 (Isegahama, Kasugano, Kise, Kokonoe, Miyagino, Oguruma, Oitekaze, Sadogatake) Entry form PART 2 of 2 (Sakaigawa, Takanohana, Tomozuna, BQ#1, BQ#2) Rules: The player's task is to sort the sekitori within their respective heyas by how many wins he/she thinks those sekitori will get during the upcoming basho. TOP - most wins, BOTTOM - least wins. In case of two rikishi with identical number of wins, the score of the one with a higher rank will be considered better. Scoring: Base points: After the basho, 1 point will be awarded for every correctly guessed A>B-type (A has more wins than B) relation between every two members of each "team". Bull’s-eye points will be awarded for getting the order of the whole "team" right (a bull's-eye) (the more sekitori in a heya, the higher the bonus):+3 for a 3-sekitori heya,+5 for a 4-sekitori heya+8 for a 5-sekitori heya+12 for a 6-sekitori heya +17 for a 7-sekitori heya etc. There are also 2 bonus question for 4 points each: 1. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the highest average number of wins? 2. Which of the featured teams do you think will have the lowest average number of wins? (1. In case of an identical average number of wins, the scores of bigger teams will be treated as better. In case of two or more equally big teams getting the same best average number of wins, all of them will be considered "winners". And vice versa for 2. - in case of two or more identical lowest averages, the biggest team is considered worse) Highest possible score for Hatsu 2018: 126+ 8 = 134 pts TIE-BREAKERS: 1. Most base points (that is, excluding bull's-eye points and bonus question points) 2. Base points for 6-sekitori heya 3. Base points for 5-sekitori heya 4. Base points for 4-sekitori heya 5. Base points for 3-sekitori heya Entry form PART 1 of 2 (Isegahama, Kasugano, Kise, Kokonoe, Miyagino, Oguruma, Oitekaze, Sadogatake) Entry form PART 2 of 2 (Sakaigawa, Takanohana, Tomozuna, BQ#1, BQ#2) DEADLINE: beginning of the first sekitori bout on Day 1 (hopefully someone will be able to provide this information if needed) IMPORTANT: if a player wants to edit their picks after having submitted their entry form, they can send me their corrected orders of the teams they would like to change and/or corrected answers to bonus questions by forum PM or e-mail ( j.a.sekowski@gmail.com ) or submit a whole new entry. WAKATAKE 2,631 Posted January 12, 2018 For Sakaigawa beya, Myogiryu is listed as M15W, Sadanoumi as J5E, and Toyohibiki is listed as J11W, which is wrong.
Rocks 1,807 Posted January 13, 2018 Well, I'm in. I'm not sure if Part 1 went through okay though.
Senkoho 552 Posted January 13, 2018 ATTENTION: Apparently I messed up big time and didn't update all the entry links - some of them directed you to the Kyushu 2017 entry forms. The basho starts tomorrow, some players have already made their picks using the incorrect forms (my fault) and may not be able to re-enter in time using the correct ones, which just would not be fair. Therefore, due to my total incompetence, I declare the SHG Hatsu 2018 basho CANCELLED I think that's the only reasonable and fair thing to do. I apologize to everyone and hope to see you back in Haru 2018. I'm prepared to use my ceremonial dagger if that's what is expected of me. 1

Achiyama 1,223 Posted January 13, 2018 (edited) Hi Jan, Don’t be harsh on yourself and get the dagger away. We are human, errors happen! I think the Cancelation is the fairest way to handle the matter. Always there will be the next basho. Looking forward to playing SHG in March! Take care and na zdrowie!
