In fact, the Swift has been impressive in several games this basho. I've seen a comment elsewhere about you not using spreadsheets and playing by instinct. I like to think I follow in a similar tradition, although my variance I'm sure is much more impressive :)

Next year you should go for the world title, but you'd need to play all the games on the SB to stand a chance really. And I am always happy to meet other non-stat gamers like myself. @Sokkenaiyama was a legendary gamer in this mould. It's not all that time-consuming if you manage your time well. I spend about 45 minutes a day making my picks for all the dailies, and a little more for my various admin duties. Not too bad - I do have that time to spare, and it's a great hobby. Keep going...you're having a great basho in many games!

And you don´t have 1/2 min to make an entry in BOUT TIME For example yesterday, day 13: M13e Takekaze vs Daishomaru Your sense would tell you that these two clowns when they touch, one would fall quickly and you'd bet 2 or 3 sec. So it would be another victory for your career. http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/topic/37152-bout-time-kyushu-17/?do=findComment&comment=348700 chishafuwaku

Bout Time does have an element of strategy, but it's mostly luck. I don't like the luck-based games much except for Chain, which is a genius game! I am always happy to try new pre-basho games, though, as they take no extra time during the basho. In that case, my joining criteria are: 1. I like the look of it, and 2. I can understand the rules quickly. Sadly, Pandas are fairly impatient! ;)

Not sure I've got the commitment to play many more than I currently do - half the trouble is that it takes me a while to understand each game, although I'm hoping to join the Bench next Basho. Also, I keep confusing Kagayaki and Kotoyuki.
Gurowake 4,032 Posted November 25, 2017 Aoiyama should have stayed kyujo. I hoped his win on his first day back would be indicative of more, but he's really screwed me over. Since I generally don't play to win but to see how my system does without anything subjective added to it, I'm very disappointed that it keeps picking Aoiyama highly to win. So both in dailies and and pre-basho games where I could get a sub for him, and NC where he at least wouldn't hurt my score if he stayed out, his return has seriously cost me, perhaps more than the injury itself did. This entire year has been proof that how my system handles injuries is just not very good, and I may need to add downgrades for people that are returning from injuries, but it would be a lot of work to add the necessary code to figure out when such situations happen and to figure out the magnitude of the downgrade that's appropriate. Tuning new parameters is very very boring, and generally adding in a new parameter means the other ones need to be adjusted too since some of their values was due to the effects that the new parameter tries to encompass. I think I'll be happy to still be in the top 5 in the WC this year and to have my first Green Mawashi - I'll just continue what I've been doing, as silly as it may look at times.
