To celebrate 75 years since Maizuru-city, Kyoto, was joined into the present form, a jungyo basho is held there on April 4th. Jungyo man Edagawa met with the top of the organization committee in a local hotel and had a press conference to announce it. http://mainichi.jp/articles/20171025/ddl/k26/050/460000c

I don't think those images of the Yokozuna are to scale.  At least, Kakuryu just doesn't seem to be at the same scale as Kisenosato - the former seems a bit magnified.  Maybe I'm just imagining it though.

Probably the positioning, we tend to cognitively process the more distant figures as being smaller?

besides, Kisenosato will always get front billing even if he hasn’t won more Yusho than any of the 3 Mongolian Yokozuna.

I have some 1000 articles to catch up with, so I just do the few pics that stick out

PR on the 28th for the Hachioji jungyo basho (another one in the Tokyo area) on Apr. 21st. This year it was on Apr. 22nd for the event of 100years since formation of the city - and because the fans were so exited, it gets another edition at once.

What happens to the old posters? Are these destroyed?

I can think of a neat "alternate universe" collection of posters for events that never can happen as depicted because the rikishi on the poster has retired.

And here's the handwritten version, or at least a rather bad photocopy of it. Maybe the Kyokai will repost a better version at some point.

I've always meant to ask...the jungyo are mostly PR/hype events right? Do spectators pay to attend, or are these events free?

They pay slightly less than for a day at a regional basho, and it sells out slightly slower http://sumo.pia.jp/hanasumo.jsp
