I can easily imagine ignorant Americans at a football game never having heard of Osaka, which has even higher population.  Also, there are dozens of cities in China I've never heard of with similar populations (and some with many times the population I've also never heard of), but I suppose they simply don't have the similar cultural footprint.

True enlightenment is reached when you realize that Frankenstein is the name the *actual* monster and that Frankenstein's creation was not a monster.  (At least, originally.  What bad movies did with the character is something else entirely)
