Yes, it's sad. It's his 8th basho and by now he really should've started at least an ozeki run. Pretty disappointing for someone with such an enormous sumo background. Sad, very sad.

Nice shoulder block, though.

The pirouettes are a perfectly normal recovery technique. You guys forgot Takarafuji–Hakuhō from November?

What was he recovering from? After the tachai-ai the other guy barely laid a hand on him. The second one he  runs away from his opponent to make enough room just to spin around.

Listen, I'm rooting for the guy. I seriously am. So far he has not looked half bad, but that bout looked like a comedy routine.

I’m too lazy to explain it so I’ll just say a condescending you’re funny.

Sharp sumo or not, I enjoyed that bout. Wakaichiro's frantic, unconventional style can make for some good fun, and I think he's done fairly well given his lack of experience. He is extremely raw, but to me  there's clearly athleticism there.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll.

Only one knee bandaged now, but he still doesn't have much oshi power and so far hasn't been able to capitalize his talents.
It's interesting to follow his development, though. A big thank you to the posters who put the videos here!

Looks like he's toned down his pre-match rituals a bit. Good sumo though.

The tokoyamas who are doing his hair must be running out of bintsuke pretty fast...

You can usually find his bouts fairly easily if you search for "wakaichirou", the people uploading his bouts seem to be adding a u at the end of his name.

As its Wakaichirō, if you don't have the macron over the o it can be written "ou" to emphasise the long vowel sound that should be pronounced there

Alternatively enter his shikona in kanji. I’ve found a goldmine of footage on particular rikishi that way.
