Benihana 1,901 Posted March 22, 2018 Yes, it's sad. It's his 8th basho and by now he really should've started at least an ozeki run. Pretty disappointing for someone with such an enormous sumo background. Sad, very sad. Nice shoulder block, though.
Rocks 1,807 Posted March 22, 2018 24 minutes ago, ALAKTORN said: The pirouettes are a perfectly normal recovery technique. You guys forgot Takarafuji–Hakuhō from November? What was he recovering from? After the tachai-ai the other guy barely laid a hand on him. The second one he runs away from his opponent to make enough room just to spin around. Listen, I'm rooting for the guy. I seriously am. So far he has not looked half bad, but that bout looked like a comedy routine.
Philioyamfugi 378 Posted March 22, 2018 He was just very lucky and very high off the tachia not good sumo Good luck tomorrow !

Katooshu 3,135 Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) Sharp sumo or not, I enjoyed that bout. Wakaichiro's frantic, unconventional style can make for some good fun, and I think he's done fairly well given his lack of experience. He is extremely raw, but to me there's clearly athleticism there. Edited March 22, 2018 by Katooshu

orandashoho 720 Posted March 23, 2018 Only one knee bandaged now, but he still doesn't have much oshi power and so far hasn't been able to capitalize his talents. It's interesting to follow his development, though. A big thank you to the posters who put the videos here!

As its Wakaichirō, if you don't have the macron over the o it can be written "ou" to emphasise the long vowel sound that should be pronounced there
Yatagarasu 352 Posted May 26, 2018 Alternatively enter his shikona in kanji. I’ve found a goldmine of footage on particular rikishi that way.
