If you're talking about consecutive matches in hiramaku without kyujo, sanyaku promotion or juryo demotion, then that is a task well beyond my taking. I can research consecutive basho or most basho ranked at hiramaku without too much issues. Matches are a lot harder to track on the DB.

This query might help: http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Query.aspx?show_form=0&columns=1&rowcount=3&group_by=rikishi&showhighest=on&form1_m=on It shows the number of makuushi basho and the highest rank. You just need to ignore the K, J, O & Y. Regarding the question about Kagayaki, he is currently on a 28 basho run without kyujo, promotion to sanyaku or demotion to juryu. If this is a record, No. From what I could see: Asanowaka has the record of most consecutive basho with the above conditions if we start counting from the 1st promotion to makuushi until the 1st demotion to juryu. A record of 29 basho (Kagayaki got demoted in his 1st basho, so he doesn't count here). Daiyu (40), Minatofuji (35), Kitakachidoki (30) had better basho runs after at least 1 demotion to juryu. Think I saw a few more with +28 runs, but the database just crashed and can't see their names. To see if a rikishi had a longer run before being promoted to sanyaku, I would have to go through the K - Y guys, but it's almost 4am and falling asleep here...
