Hakuho is at 84.5% now - a while ago he was at 85%. He's past his peak, so it will likely go down a little before he retires, maybe it will be a real race to see if he or Taiho ends up having the best win record in modern history.

I had noticed this too. If Hakuho wants to extend his career two more years, He may win two or perhaps three championships, but his ratio will drop considerably.

Most Basho as Yokozuna

1. 63 - Kitanoumi

2. 59 - Chiyonofuji

3. 58 - Taiho

3. 58 - Hakuho

No doubt Hakuho will want this record too. Just one year, six honbasho. Bus his win ratio will drop. Between 'Most basho as Yokozuna' and the win ratio record, I think Hakuho willl prefer the  'Most basho as Yokozuna' record. So he will not retire for at least one year.

To me probably the most amazing record I know is the win ratios:

  Name Win-Loss Years rate
1 Taihō 746-144 1960-1971 83.8%
2 Futabayama 276-68 1932-1945 80.2%
3 Asashōryū 596-153 2001-2010 79.6%
4 Haguroyama 321-94 1937-1953 77.3%
5 Kitanoumi 804-247 1972-1985 76.5%

This record is for Makuuchi only which I doubt he would set any great store by. Include lower divisions and he's already behind Taiho and extremely unlikely to catch up as it would take a number of zensho yusho to do. Yusho, Total basho and total wins would seem more important.

I don't think records will play much into his decision to retire anyway. Even if he doesn't miss any more tournaments this year due to injury and manages to average better than 10 wins per basho  if he fails to win a yusho this year he won't last long into next year IMO. There is a very significant chance in my opinion that all 3 Mongolian Yokozuna will be retired by this time next year.

If Harumafuji and kakuryu retire in may (which they will.), will Terunofuji be promoted if he gets zensho?

There's zero chance any of the 3 retire before Aki and I doubt anyone will win a zensho yusho this year. Given Terunofuji's instability I doubt even that would get him promoted.

Hakuho is still a formidable yokozuna and well deserved record holder. I am amazed how well he has been able to hide what clearly must be serious health problems that forced him to change his sumo and knocked him off the lonely position at the top. He may still be the best yokozuna of all times, but if he is not the best yokozuna on the banzuke he will not be opening any Olympic games. I am sure that he knows that this honour will be given to a Japanese Yokozuna higher on the banzuke, and will retire when that becomes certain.

Most Consecutive Career Bouts (All-Time)

1. 1630 - Aobajo

2. 1543 - Fujizakura

3. 1456 - Takatoriki

4. 1425 - Takamiyama

5. 1367 - Dairyugawa

6. 1359 - Terao

7. 1316 - Toyonoumi

8. 1297 - Hidanohana

9. 1267 - Ozutsu

10. 1256 - Otsukasa

FYI I noticed today that Hachiya did not miss a single bout from his debut in September 1968 until his intai in July 1987 (although he's listed on the September 1987 banzuke as a 0-0-7). That gives him 1263 consecutive matches, enough to enter the Top 10 and bump Otsukasa off the list.
