And I thought I was feeling bad because of how I was doing in the games. Kisenosato losing a Yusho by injury just sucks. If he's out the last 2 days I won't even watch.

Edit: first, I queried for Harumafuji makuuchi wins on days 1 through 15 against opponents who ended up with 14-1 for the basho. It turns out that Harumafuji has spoiled 3 zensho all by himself:

2008.01 Sekiwake Ama (6-4) def. Yokozuna Hakuhou (9-1) on day 10.

2009.01 Ozeki Harumafuji (4-6) def. Yokozuna Hakuhou (9-1) on day 10

2012.07 Ozeki Harumafuji (15-0) def. Yokozuna Hakuhou (14-1) on day 15- to become yokozuna. 

In addition, Harumafuji has beaten these previously undefeated and eventual yusho-winning makuuchi rikishi in the last 5 days:

On day 15, see above. 

On day 14, nobody. 

On day 13, Hakuhou in the non-honbasho of May 2011. Harumafuji was 8-5 after the bout and Hakuhou ended up 13-2Y.

On day 12, nobody. 

On day 11, nobody. 

All in all Hakuhou has missed out on serious mochikyuukin thanks to Harumafuji. 

 

Add 2017 Haru Basho to Harumafuji's record...(assuming Kisenosato can come back and fight for the last 2 days)

I guess Kisenosato is slightly better because it was not an injury to his legs/knees/ankle.

It most likely is a dislocated shoulder the way he's holding his arm in one picture I've seen. Very unfortunate.

Kisenosato was transported to an Osaka hospital after his bout in an ambulance. His right arm was in a sling; he apparently also has some sort of chest injury to go along with his shoulder injury. The dislocated shoulder was reportedly affixed [Sankei] but Kisenosato told the reporter (referring to his arm): " 動かない。痛みがあって動かすのが怖い "  (Close enough translation: "I'm not moving it. It hurts and I'm too scared to move it.")

Yeah, but due to jamming in it too far rather than pulling it out like most dislocations.  Unless he was overreacting, I doubt we'll be seeing him the last 2 days.

Unfortunate that Kisenosato got hurt, but I loved seeing Harumafuji display his fierce competitive spirit and Yokozuna pride. First Yokozuna matchup with Kisenosato and Harumafuji completely dominated him. Isegahama beya standing up!

This might fall into the hideous jinx category.

 

But theoretically, if Terunofuji loses his remaining 2 bouts and Harumafuji, Takayasu and Tochiozan all win their remaining 2 bouts, we would get a nice 4-way yusho kettei-sen. 

And if Takayasu and Tochiozen both lose in this scenario, we have to start thinking of a completely different dou-beya playoff than 3 days ago. Crazy turn of events, quite fitting for a Haru basho, I guess.

Teru could lose his last two while Hafumafuji, Takayasu, and Tochiozan win their last two. And I'm willing to bet that Teru gets Tochiozan on day 15.
