Jejima 1,313 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Who is the target guy for March 2017? Please rank the following three in order of preference... (As suggested, I am adding the shin-Yokozuna to this list for this time - but I fear that there might be even more band-wagons than usual if he is selected.) Y2W Kisenosato S2E Kotoshogiku M2W Takanoiwa Edit: I am also including Kotoshogiku, as it has been a long time exactly three years since there were last three Sekiwakes ranked on the banzuke - so I think he would make an interesting selection choice. PawnSums 59 Posted March 4, 2017 Just now, Sakura said: No. At the moment we're just selecting who our target rikishi. Jejima 1,313 Posted March 4, 2017 The game used to be played with Kisenosato always being the 'target' pick (hence the name of the game). This was when he was (?nearly?) always ranked at either Sekiwake or Komusubi or in the joi-jin (the non-sanyaku players at the top of the Makunouchi division, who are expected to face the Yokozuna(s) during the basho). When Kisenosato was promoted to Ozeki, the game became too predictable, as the Ozeki schedule (especially over the last 4 or 5 days) is pretty obvious to work out. So, we changed the 'target' to be any rikishi ranked in Sekiwake, Komusubi or the joi-jin (upper Makunouchi). Before the start of each basho, I will select three such rikishi as possible targets, and then players vote on the order of preference for those three mentioned rikishi. I then count the votes, and the one with the most becomes the target for that basho. The only difference to this basho is that Kisenosato is included on the ballot paper, despite being a Yokozuna, in deference to him finally becoming a Yokozuna. Jejima 1,313 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Announcing the March 2017 edition of Guess Kisenosato's Aite.... But for S2E Kotoshogiku.... All you have to do is guess S2E Kotoshogiku's opponent each day, before the torikumi comes out. If you guess correctly, you get a shiroboshi. This is surprisingly more fun (or frustrating) and challenging than it should be. It also gets you to think a bit more about the 'inner-workings' of sumo. Here is the current banzuke:- Kuroimori (Y1W 9-6) Y1 Jakusotsu (Y1E 8-7) Andonishiki (O1W 8-7) O1 Gurowake (O1E 5-2-8)Gernobono (S1W 9-6) O2 Tenshinhan (M1E 9-6) S1 chishafuwaku (M1W 8-7) McBugger (M2E 8-5-2) K1 Profomisakari (M2W 8-7) Sakura (M4W 9-6) M1 shimodahito (M3E 8-7) orandashoho (K2E 7-8) M2 Ryoshishokunin (S1E 6-9)Jejima (K1E 6-8-1) M3 The Kyokai (M3W 5-10)Harry (M4E kosho) M4 PhorCillic (K1W 2-2-11) Comments: Yokozuna Jakusotsu once again did not display Ozeki Quality GKA Sumo in January, and this is becoming a concern. However his undefeated streak continues, and that is to be applauded. Yokozuna Kuroimori achieved a share of the January Jun-Yusho. We hope he continues to perform to this high standard in March.. Gernobono will be considered for promotion to Yokozuna if he wins the yusho in March, and has at least one more win than the Jun-Yusho winner(s). The rules are as follows:- 1. Guess S2E Kotoshogiku's opponents on each day of the basho. 2. Entries need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the previous day, except for the days 1 and 2 entries which need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the Friday prior to the start of the basho. If it turns out that the daily toriukumi is printed before these times, then any entry proved to have come afterwards is not allowed for that day (so enter early to be safe). 3. Tie-breakers to decide the Yusho.... We look at the result of the day 15 prediction, then day 14, and so on back to day 1. If still a tie, then the highest ranked on the banzuke can claim the Yusho. 4. If S2E Kotoshogiku goes kyujo during the basho, we switch to S1W Takayasu (K1E Mitakeumi, then K1W Shodai kept further in reserve, if needed due to a mass spate of kyujos) for the days after his fusensho loss (I.e. we can still guess who gets the freebie). For the immediate day afterwards, (unless it is known very soon after the event), everyone will get a 'kyujo'. 5. Players that are leading the Yusho race (especially in the final few days of the basho), are requested / expected to get their picks in very early (before all the other players, if possible) - in order to avoid suspicions of 'tactical picking'. Special prizes (many thanks to Yaochoyama): 1. Outstanding performance (shukun-sho) - the one who correctly picks the aite the most consecutive days. You have to have a minimum of three to win this prize. 2. Fighting spirit (kanto-sho) - the one who limits their incorrect aite picks to the shortest number of consecutive days (literally the one whose longest losing streak is the shortest). Any losing streak of 5 or more days would disqualify you from this prize. 3. Technique (gino-sho) - the one who is best at making correct picks when no one, or hardly anyone else does. A point system is used as follows and you need at least 3 points to claim this prize: 3 points if you're the only win to make the correct pick 2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick 1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pick New players () are cordially invited to this game - it is an official second league © game!
