This basho's memorial good is a Hoshoryu yusho class ring for ¥100,000.

On the fanclub website, the example picture of the real ring is for Philip College which maybe doesn't exist.

This past basho, I attended shonichi (the opening day) for the first time.  Also the first time attending the Nagoya basho.  Attendees were given fans and I have been admiring the single continuous line rendering of a sumo wrestler ever since.  I wish there were not kanji written over the artwork but think it still bears sharing.

The e-banzuke for Aki 2023 has appeared on the new site https://kokugikan.net/?pid=176943178

176943178.jpg

- the old ones no longer in this thread are still on ex-tw. - there they have posted the Nagoya basho banzuke again for Aki (has happened before), which has vanished from the top of this page, so I post it again as well

This round of memorial goods had a new twist - almost all goods are offered in a Takakeisho version and a Atamifuji version even though it was only the yusho winner featuring on memorial goods previously. There's also quite a lot, I won't post pictures of all. But Tshirt, square tin, diorama, mug cup, bag.

Towel with both, all other goods are separate.

The only memorial good to only feature Takakeisho is a bit weird. It's a decorative license plate sized for North America!

I'll explain a little for non-US folk. On cars, not all states require front license plate. Actually, you won't even be given 2 license plates in these states. Some years ago (and I mean, like the 1980s) the front license plate spot was 'built-in' to all the cars and looked like a gaping hole if you didn't put a plate there. So, there was a big market for these decorative license plates. But this market has been pretty much dead since the early 2000s when car-makers would include covers to hide the hole, or included a front license plate holder as a self-install kit with the car 'normally' having no place to put a front plate. So its really weird seeing such a super-niche thing show up as a memorial good. Along with the US high school class ring as a previous memorial good, I guess they are using these out of style custom US goods for cheap...

When I visited the Kokugikan for Hatsu Basho this past January, I purchased a stuffable tote bag.  It has Ura on the storage bag and an assortment of past and present wrestlers on the shopping bag including Hakuho and Kisenosato.

On my visit to the Hatsu basho this past January, I spotted this illustrated tenugui by the late Kototsurugi in one of the souvenir shops:
巡業風景絵図 (jungyō fūkei ezu) Scenes from Jungyo.
I love his comic sumo compositions.  So much amusing detail.
(I previously posted a couple of other tenugui in the Obituaries thread soon after the artist's passing.  Both of those were also on sale.)

The rikishi on the left looks the spitting image of Sadanoumi.

The picture banzuke for Aki 2024 - the last with the 38th Shonosuke, and the only one with 2 tategoyji for the time we have them again: for Nagoya the new Inosuke was not yet Inosuke

For Nagoya the new Inosuke was still Yodo (complete with orange sanyaku rosettes and tassles), both on the picture banzuke and the dohyo.

In fact I'm slightly disappointed we haven't had a thread about it - this is the first I've heard of his promotion.

In double fact, I'm just assuming it's Yodo...

Seeing an ozeki with only a chon-mage is a little surreal.

I wonder if they checked with his hairdresser, or unilaterally decided he's not getting it illustrated until he appears on the dohyo with an oicho-mage.
