Back in 2014, two-thirds of us thought that Ichinojo would be Ozeki by January 2016....

What every happened to those hopes from two years ago?  Still, it is not too late for Ichinojo.

Please include your predictions in the comments below, and state what you think the actual rank of Ichinojo will be on the January 2017 2018 banzuke.

I wasn't kind to Ichinojo on this poll.  He seems to be carrying just too much weight to be effective, not to mention his back problem.   I've seen his 1st Makuuchi debut videos and he was quick and looked strong.   That same speed hasn't been there for a while.   I  think he will start 2018 in lower Makuuchi rank.

M3? I'm thinking he will be bouncing around at the top of the maegashira ranks. Maybe even popping into sanyaku?

I am going for M11W (Jan 2018), 3 KK - which are 1 X 8-7 and 2 X 9-6 (his best record for the year.)

M13E in Jan 2108, 3 KK with 9-6 the best result...

But I can also imagine him being in Juryo by then if the weight loss doesn´t improve his back problems, up until now it has not enhanced his speed but maybe he will already be in a better shape in Jan. 2017

Ichinojo's year:-

Jan - M13W (11-4)
Mar - M7E (6-9)
May - M9E (8-7)
Jul - M6E (7-8)
Sep - M6E (8-7)
Nov - M4W (10-5)

- so more good than bad - and certainly a rise up the banzuke. (In November 2016, Ichinojo had a 7-8 record at M13W, yet kept his rank for Jan 2017. He did this trick again in July 2017!  It is highly unusual for a rikishi to keep the exact rank after an MK, but to do it twice in less than a year, is really a lot of banzuke luck, methinks!)

He ends the year well, and could under normal circumstances to be ranked at Komusubi for January 2018 (predicted by 3 people), or even Sekiwake (predicted by no one).  However looking at the November banzuke, it seems to me that he will more likely be ranked at M1, or even M2 for January 2018.  This was predicted by:- Benihana, inhashi, MumboJumbo, I am the Yokozuna, Sumozumo, Morty, chishafuwaku, Tenshinhan and Nantonoyama.

He managed four KKs - those that got this correct are:- Benihana, Kintamayama, inhashi, MumboJumbo, Unkonoyama, Sumozumo, Morty, chishafuwaku, SumpaX, James Jett and Nantonoyama.

His best result for the year, was the 11-4 back in January.  Six people got this correct:- Benihana, MumboJumbo, chishafuwaku, SumpaX, James Jett and Nantonoyama.

So, Benihana, MumboJumbo, chishafuwaku and Nantonoyama got all three questions correct!  Omedetou!  Can they be separated by the comments that they wrote?

MumboJumbo predicts the January rank to be M3.
Benihana chose M2.
chishafuwaku also went for M2.
Nantonoyama opted for M5.

So, Benihana and chishafuwaku remain tied....  However, just for the bravery of predicting the wins and losses for every basho, I will give the yusho (highly controversially!) to Benihana (Yushowinner...), perhaps chishafuwaku will feel robbed that he only gets the Jun-Yusho? (Secondprize...)

This is scandalous (Protesting...)

Jejima wants to copy Takanohana´s style (Carriedawayonastretcher...)

One day, after 2050, justice will be restored (Onthebanzuke...)
