egparis18 621 Posted November 21, 2016 Maiko are apprentice geisha. He meets a senior maiko (both lips painted) and a junior one (bottom lip only painted). It looks, from the use of 'okini' to say thank you, the hairstyle and the way the back of their neck is painted, as if they're from Kyoto - Miyagawa-Cho or Gion Higashi, but I'm not sure. They're not from Gion because the back of their neck would be painted in three points if they were.
