Bench Sumo news

I am trying to understand the above figures, however no idea so far. As a regular bench participant I also checked the tables whether my Shikona is part of it, however, not found so far.

Can anybody help?

Hi Andreas, this has to do with the quality of your daily aites.... The higher they are ranked the more points you can collect. A win in Makushita doesn‘t bring you any point while wins vs. Yokozuna or Ozeki are worth 14 resp. 12 points. I assume you spent 2019 all 6 Basho in Makushita, that’s why you are not on this list. Only wins vs. Sekitori (Makuuchi and Juryo) are counted. Alles klar?

And (unlike the early days) the points are only given if you are ranked in one of the top two divisions. So a Makushita player defeating a Juryo player gets zero points.

So with the help of some banzuke luck, I'll start compiling QoS points as soon as Hatsu. (Bow...)

You may think about the contents of the envelope for the Banzuke committee  ;-)

I don't think this is necessary. You just have to look at the quality of my sumo ... from the seat of your brand new Tesla Cybertruck that should be arriving at your location any hours now !

Nice... but this won‘t help for Bench Sumo as Í´m not involved in Banzuke making there. But of course I will consider your new Banzuke Position in SalaryCap, Odd Sumo and ISP...

Hi all,

Here is the new banzuke for January 2020. It was put together by Flohru (who did the heavy lifting with the 'compromise' banzuke making this time), Kaiomitsuki and Jejima, with Asashosakari, Kintamayama and Ekigozan looking on.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone,

I have received the following missive from the honorable Maruzhiki-zeki, chair of the Bench Sumo Yokozuna Deliberation Council...

Jejima (BS rijicho)

*************

Venerable Rijicho Jejima

The BSYDC have met and debated Flohru's first Basho as Yokozuna.

It is understandable that standing in such a lofty position, can lead to the odd jittering of nerves the first time you are up there.  Though Flohru's record this Basho was not exactly what is expected of a Yokozuna, we do understand that he needs time to settle into his role.

Currently we feel that, and as no Yokozuna in the Live Sumo would be asked to retire after one poor performance.  We will be give Flohru the chance to give his best for the first Basho of 2020.

We offer Flohru our encouragement and support.   We look forward to seeing how the new season of Sumo turns out for everyone, and how a new perspective on the game can improve for Flohru's chances.

On behalf of the BSYDC, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and merry festive seasons greetings to all, and may 2020 bring good things to all.

 Marushiki (Chair BSYDC)

Important admin note:

The Bench Sumo Mailing List - which has been running at Yahoo!Groups since the very start of the game in 1999 - has now been moved to groups.io.
(Many thanks to Takanorappa for doing all the work! (Signofapproval...))

The transistion went surprisingly smooth. All the previous messages are already there, and every member subscribed to the old list has been automatically added and should have received a notification email about the move.

The main page for managing your subscription and viewing all the messages is here:
https://groups.io/g/benchsumo

From now on, all posts to the Bench Sumo Mailing List should be sent to benchsumo@groups.io

The old group at Yahoo and the interim backup group at Google will be locked for posting.

We strongly suggest that every Bench Sumo Player who is not aware yet of the mailing list should check it out. You're missing out on many important (and some not-so-important) news if you don't, and the ancient stuff holds many precious gems to be discovered.
